I have not been diganosed with Crohn's; I have a colonoscopy January 14.  I just have so many symptoms that seem to point to Crohn's.

I was wondering if anyone experiences gas and stomach discomfort in the early morning hours? When I wake up around 4:30 or 5 a.m. and I am not quite ready to get up I notice my bowels kick into high gear and I feel gas building up and I have to pass gas and burp. If I continue to lie flat it gets worse. Then when I sit up it gets better. It is so weird. It's like as soon as I am awake I can no longer stay in the lay down position but I have to sit up. I always go to the bathroom and try to have a bowel movement, but usually I am not ready for one yet. This is every single morning.

Can anyone relate or explain why this is?

Thanks for the link Nanners!

That does sound like what I go through. I plan my whole life around my stomach. I too, won't eat before or during an outing in case my stomach decides to give me trouble. I just really want to get a diagnosis so I can figure out what things I can do to relieve or stop my symptoms.

The only thing is I don't have diahrrea very much. I have only had diahrrea 3 times in the past 2.5 months. Do all people with Crohn's have diahrrea?

Nope, I suffer with constipation. In fact, I have to take stool softners nightly in order to keep things soft enough to pass. If I don't, I am in a world of hurt the next day. Good luck!

Nanners,

Really?!! Not all Crohn's sufferes have diahrrea. Hmmmmm... that is interesting. when I have bad pain in my right side I am usually constipated for 2-3 days. I think I am so close to a diagnosis after 8 years! I can't wait for the colonoscopy. I have always thought I was suffering from female problems and yet the trouble continued even after the hytsterectomy. I love the quote you have about every tomorrow having two handles; it is very encouraging and inspirational. The funny thing is that when I was younger and in my teens and twenties I had no fear or anxiety. I also did some dumb and reckless things, but about 2 years into battling these episodes and pain I had my first anxiety attack and thought I was dying. I used to pray that God would take it all away and yet I have found I can turn my experience around and encourage others going through the same things. I guess we all just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other and try to look for things to be thankful for everyday no matter what our circumstances.

It took a long time for me to get diagnosed because I didn't have diarrhea! I always had relatively normal BMs but with alot of pain in my LRQ. Anyways good luck with your colonoscopy and I hope you get some treatment and feel better soon!
