I was diagnosed earlier this year with crohn's disease, which was a little bit of a relief after dealing with the symptoms for almost 20 years. I also this year found out I suffer from ovarian cysts, cause one thing wasn't bad enough to deal with I guess. My issue now is figuring out when i'm having an attack of severe pain, which one it is. So, I guess i'm wondering if there is anyone else out there with the same issue and what they do to figure it out, if at all, and how they deal with it. Thanks for your time in reading this...

Yes, I have tons of cysts on my ovaries. They diagnosed me with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Not sure if it's related to Crohn's really, but I think there are several of us here who have them. Not only did I have all the pain, but my periods were messed up royally!

So far I've been on the pill, and I skip my periods. This controls them and I don't have problems with them as long as I stay on the pill.

I have polycystic kidney disease and have cysts in my kidneys, liver, and ovaries. When my Crohn's disease is flaring I only have pain on my right side. If it is ovarian pain it is usually on both sides. My ovarian pain also  occurs mainly during the time when I ovulate. Obstruction pain occurs in waves, like contractions in the belly button region. It is a lot worse man any cyst pain.

My Crohn's symptoms began in 1975, Dx'd in 1976, resection in 1978, remission until 1998, pretty much in symptomatic and full remission on and off since then. Menopause in 1992. Ovarian cysts Dx'd in 2003, no symptoms. One cyst was 4 cms when found and is now 8 cms. Still no symptoms. We now monitor just once a year w/US. As long as no symptoms we plan on just monitoring until 10 cms. At 10 cms the problem of artifacts messing up the USs and will have to have both ovaries removed. Simple cysts are not always a problem.
Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
