Happy New Year everyone,
I tend to get constipated, so I take probiotics, metamucil and colace daily, but every once in awhile, nothing works and I have to resort to Senokot. This last episode, I took Senokot for 2 days straight, with no success. This morning, as I was trying to get organized for my 16 year old to have a new year's party, and some friends of mine for dinner, I had the Worst right sided (ileum?) pain. 10 out of 10 on the pain scale for about an hour. I was debating if I'd have to cancel my company, go to the ER, etc. when I finally pooped and felt better.

The thing is, I feel shaky and silly as it sounds, emotionally traumatized! I'm fine now, it amazes me that I can't just take it in stride and move on! Does anyone else get like this after a bad pain episode? Just wondering...
Have a happy and healthy new year!

I only tried Miralax once, but it made me really nauseated. I'm ok now...just a little shaky. I'm off to the grocery store to get food for my party, although I don't think I'll be eating much! Thanks for the support

I can totally relate... The times it hurts SO bad... Sometimes vomiting goes hand-in-hand with that level of pain. I come out teary eyed (not from crying, just what happens) and shaking. I have to lay down with a heating pad. It happened once at work and unfortunately a co-worker came in as I was washing my hands. I was really worried about me . What to say? She knows I have Crohn's, but so many people don't really see Crohn's up close.

Hang in there and pamper yourself today! As much rest as you can get and you will feel more strength again. Hugs!

Gumby are you taking the Colace every night? I suffer with constipation too, and I have to take my stool softners every night or I will end up like you.

Hugs!

Hi...you guys are the best! Nanners, I do take colace every night, and I even upped it to two tablets at night for the past several days. I had a cold and was taking Sudafed. I don't know if that affected things, and I did eat some chocolate Christmas candy, but not much, and none for the past few days. Sometimes this just happens and I don't know why. I'm cooking dinner for my friends, but I'm a little afraid to eat tonight! I just snuck up the the computer for "hugs" and I was happy to find them. Happy New Year to everyone!

When pain gets really bad it is exhausting!! It also leaves me with the fear that it might return. Your are normal, at least in this respect :)

Argh....I hate pain. I have so much pain so often that now I try to get into a meditative state to get through it. I think about happy places like my husbands arms. I have abdominal pain but also wicked rectal pain...I often feel like I am passing shards of glass. Traumatized...you bet. When it first got bad I would come out of the bathroom crying because I felt tortured.

I can be tough during the intense pain, but then I seem to fall apart afterward...kind of a delayed emotional reaction

I think it is something definitely biologic going on. I think it is only natural to get weak during or after that kind of pain. When that stuff starts for me, it's loritab time. Luckily, that doesn't happen that often. I got tired of suffering with pain for over 20 years now and wish I had asked for something for the pain way sooner. Plus, it helps the spasms for me much more than any anti-spasmodic I discovered, so no more symax or donnital for me. They didn't work very well at all anyway. Donnital worked better than anything but would dry me out something awful. My sinuses would bleed. Gumby, I hope you are done for a while with that pain. Good luck.
