Does anyone have trouble with flagyl?? After my last flare, I had a fever so they wanted me to take antibiotics. I was reluctant but when I came down with a UTI, I had to take something so I started on 250 mg of flagyl. Within 2 days I had diarrhea again. Sigh......... I have been taking the VSL #3 when I think the antibiotics are at their lowest level in hopes that some will survive. I quit taking the flagyl and am hoping the UTI won't come back and the diarrhea will stop. I swear antibiotics are such bad news!! I hate them!!!

I am also waiting for my CT scan results. I had it last tuesday and called on Friday. I guess with the holidays, they are busy, but I sure wish they would call me back.

I have sworn to never take oral antibiotics again. If doc wants me to take them he can give me a shot or teach me to give myself a shot. That stuff is horror incarnate.

I hope you get your scan results soon, waiting and imagining isn't fun either.

I feel a whole lot more the way I do now than I did a little while ago.

I hear ya! Do the shots work ok and not wreck the flora in the intestines like the oral agents? That's good to know..... Thanks for the reply.

HATE THE STUFF!  I've only taken Flagyl once, but will never take it again!  Halfway throught the 10 days I got "hairy tongue" and 2 months later my tongue is still not normal!  It also *almost* brought on a yeast infection.  On top of that I was fatigued both mentally and physically to the point where I wasn't sure if I was safe to drive.  I had terrible brain foggies.  And the best part???  The three days after I stopped taking it were the worst for my symptoms, EVER!

I will NEVER take Flagyl again!

Last time I was on flagyl, my fingers started tingling non stop. My GI told me to stop taking it immediately as it was known to potentially cause nerve damage. Now I wonder if it has been the root cause of periodic Restless Leg Syndrome.

I've been on Flagyl for a month now - recently found out I have Thrush in my mouth from it.
I want to stop taking it but I fear that my abscess will come back and I need to avoid an infection before my remicade treatment next Thursday.
It's a vicious circle. I can take an antibiotic for the thrush but it will just come back. So... tomorrow I will ask my nurse practitioner what my course of action will be.

I don't see any problems with metrodinazole. Im taking 500mg twice daily and It has definitly helped my cold. haha. But The Diarrhea has not improved at all.

I don't really have many side effects except for some abdominal pain. stay away from alcohol to avoid the large amounts of thrush and intolerance.

I haven't had any alcohol to drink since starting this medication. However; I have been on it for a month solid and off and on before that since September - I feel that my body hasn't had the chance to regenerate good bacteria between each prescription.

I just have to get to my remicade infusion and then a couple days after and I will stop taking it as well.

I totally agree with you, I HATE antibiotics.

Has anyone ever heard of Flagyl causing antibiotic induced C Diff?

I know the Flagyl is typically used to treat it but, can it too cause C diff?

How many on Flagyl have had no issues with it in the beginning but developed D after prolonged use?
