Well I'm waiting for the Remicade to kick in... just got my 6th infusion.  Didn't seem to last long enough.  Stress probably made it worse.  Now I'm having severe abd. pain and small amts of blood.  Nothing seems to help.  Eating, not eating, heating pads, pain meds etc.  Any suggestions?  Got an appt with GI in a few weeks but how do I make it till then?  Its not bad enough to go to the ER.  But gets piercing to the point of doubling over a few times a day.  Thoughts?

Current meds:  Remicade and probiotics
Tried:  Prednisone, lialda, antibiotics all failed attempts.

Call your GI's office and see what they say. You shouldn't have to put up with that kind of pain.

Meanwhile, eat only foods that can be easily mashed with a fork. Give your insides a rest.

Feel better soon.

Following excellent Omega-3 diet as per James Scala's 'The New Eating Right for the Bad Gut' - got me out of a flare.

I agree with j_web. I've called my GI's office with that information before, and they made sure I got in based on the same reasoning. That is, you should not be dealing with this, and it should not be that you have to wait until your appointment a few weeks away for relief.

I wish you well! I'm so sorry you're experiencing this...

Thanks for the replies... I know I'm in a flare up. I'm almost always in pain. So I guess I've gotten use to it and working with it. Sad but true. It is getting frustrating...waiting though. I've been working all day then like passing out at night, trying to rest and recover but its not working. So far the new year aint goin well. So you guys don't have severe abdominal pain??

Not all the time, and not severe, unless I have a blockage. I agree with the others, if you can't get in real soon to your GI, go to the ER. Severe pain means severe problems and shouldn't be put off.

I'm very sorry your doing so bad and I hope you get some relief real soon.

Hey sick,

I think that pain is trying to tell you something, something is going on in there. I agree that you should try to get in with your doctor soon, and if it is not possible I would suggest going to the ER.

I agree with everyone...if you can't get with your Dr. earlier...go to the ER.  It could be so many things.  Could be your gall bladder, fistula, stones, etc.  The longer you wait, the worse it could get.

Feel better and hopefully all will go well.

Yea.... i will probably do something about it over the weekend when I have time off of work.  I feel so guilty with how much time I've had to take off of work.  But o well.  The Dr. seems very reluctant to changing the regimen.  Because Remicade worked so well in the beginning and I had horrible reactions to any other medicine.  I basically lost the ability to walk from Prednisone dosage of 4 weeks.  Never had a leg pain in my life before that.  SO I can see why he is reluctant.  This is my second opinion but if he doesn't start to help soon I'll be on to my third.
