I keep hearing a lot about LDN. I did a little research, and it looks like it is considered safe for pregnancy. I know it's considered kind of controversial, so I'm not even sure my GI would prescribe it for me, but regardless I'm interested. I'm curious if anyone has gone from Remicade and stopped it to go on LDN, and if so how it worked for you.

Also, has anyone been on LDN while pregnant?

According to the FDA-approved prescribing information, it's pregnancy category C, meaning don't use in pregnancy unless the benefits justify the risks. The rating appears to be based on 1) lack of controlled studies in pregnant women and 2) elevated rates of early fetal loss in rats and rabbits given naltrexone (although as common in such testing, doses were higher than those that would be used in human patients). Hope this is helpful.

Hi Writer,

Wow, I didn't know it was a category C. That's actually worse than Remicade which I know was a C and is now a B. I should have done more research. All I did was look at one Low Dose Naltrexone website, and it didn't list a rating, it just said it was not harmful for pregnancy and actually beneficial. But I don't think it listed any statistics. That's kind of why I posted the question here as opposed to a LDN website, because I was hoping there was less bias here.

Thanks for your input, Writer. That is helpful.

Is the FDA approval recommendation for full dose Naltrexone (50 mg / day) or low dose Naltrexone (4.5 mg/day).
Just one more thing to factor in when you are looking.
