Well its right after Christmas and im back on prednisone. The pain is back so the only thing that puts me in remission is the Pred.
I usually have to start at 30Mg and wean down for 2 months and then i am fine with no pain after eating and can eat almost anything with no problem except Chinese foods, Broccoli and steak. I seem to have no problem until next December. Does anyone else follow this pattern??
The only pains i have during the year is joint pain from the Ped and getting old. I talked to my doctor and he seems to have quite a few patients who flare in the fall.

Looking forward to replies

My flares always occurred in Feb or March. My physician at the time said it may be related to changes in diet in the wintertime, increases in stress around the holidays and changes in activity level. I know many other people with crohn's who have this experience. Good luck on your meds.

I don't so much flare during December but I get alot of increased stress and anxiety. It just gets to be a very stressful time for me for lots of personal reasons.

Same here nanners, this year was another write off for me flared for 9 days straight together with a nasty mouth ulcer. Looking back I wonder if I should have gone to A @ E and got put on a drip. I did electrolytes at home, and OH took our presents over to our son's place and made our apologies about not being able to make it.

I've had 3 major flares about 4 years apart. . . all starting around Oct/Nov. I was thinking the same thing during this last flare, that I've developed a pattern.

Tried Remicade 2 yrs ago for about a year and a half and loved it, got off it due to costs, tried Humira and it just didn't work for me so now back on Remicade.

My worse problems are always in March, which I don't know why. I also have some problems in early October, which I attribute to starting the school year as a teacher and as a mum.

For years I had partial or full obstructions at least twice a year. One was simetime between late May and early July and the other was November-December. My surgeon and I talked about it and he said he thinks there must be an environmental factor that influences Crohn's because he has multiple patients that follow the same pattern of obstructions.

Once I switched to Humira, I haven't had an obstruction! (going on almost 2 years now...knock on wood!)
