It seems that during a flare for me, after eating i get pains around the belly button area as the food digest. When i sleep at night i have to sleep on my left side or the pain gets worse. The belly area is tender to the touch also.I have been told that i have crohns through out the intestines.
Does this sound common?

Thanks vid53

Sounds familiar but I usually sleep on the right side.

some GIs find focus in doing everything to reduce inflammation which is good because of what you describe... of this scenario, in evaluating why you have this pain it is possible the bowel is very inflammed to prevent even the gas from passing properly. So eliminating the inflammation targets this. less inflammation less problems prior to the inflammation. perhaps the more specific remedy is to  also include a week of anti-oxidants , liquid only, and nothing solid or bulky, that the gas is absorbed moreso in the liquid than any bulk in theory. conversely, im not sure adding bulk would be beneficial although it is also possible the bulk would fill and then send the gas on its way having filled this space now with food. I dont know, but i suspect that a gas pocket in the bowel as early as the stomach would have something to do with the pain from inflammation or obstruction further on. Perhaps ask if a simethicone (anti-gas) is appropriate for you to take.

I always have pain associated with a flare but it's to the side. I think it's pretty normal to have pain associated with a flare. I hope you're not flaring now. If u are I hope u get it under control real soon.

I feel a whole lot more the way I do now than I did a little while ago.
