Can any one help (or relate?)

After an acute Crohn's flare and hospitalization, I was put on 60 then 55 mg prednisone which as caused me to formed stools. For six years, I've had unformed stools, so my body basically doesn't know how to have a formed stool ... I have to manually help myself as my pelvic floor is a bit 'lost' if that makes sense.  So, I think combined with this straining along with the thinning of the skin with the prednisone (this is what the help nurse told me) I have a very painful thrombosed hemorroid.

I see the surgeon tomorrow.  Problem is I don't know what to eat ... I've tried to up the fiber (starting first with cooked, soluable fiber) which helped some ... and then tried insoluable - raw veggies and even popcorn.  The latter I can't tolerate ever, but it helped me bulk up my stool.  Problem is that I have abdominal pain and a very distended belly.  So, I'm at a loss as how to bulk up my stool, what to eat, etc.  Last night I drank a bunch of prune juice but no stool yet this morning.

I appreciate the fact that we can all talk about this stuff as there is NO ONE else I'd even try to talk about this ... HELP!

yea I had that issue I had 9ft of small I removed back in 1970 so was very use to loose bm's now cd has moved up to throat and canker sores, I try to eat alot of fiber the best for me is organic raw beets grated on the small side of the grade not the zester but the one that is a bit bigger and this morning all of the night's bile came out. thank god. I had just started with the pred after not taking it since 1971, I was on entocort but htat didn't do anything for my throat ,mouth issues so give it a try, I add good olive oil to the mound of beets and alittle salt, and it is very tasty

I use stool softners nightly in order to keep things softer and easier to pass. Maybe you could give those a try. Good luck!

I love beets so I'll try those and the stool softners ...

And yeah, I started having mouth sores too ... do you ever have them on your tongue and in the throat but not where you can swallow ... like more near the wind pipe?

For me I find that drinking A LOT of water helps. As does oatmeal in the morning.

If you are having trouble passing stool, try squatting on the toilet rather than sitting. Not joking, it may help. You can look it up on the internet and I think someone on HW may have discussed it before.
