I have internal hemorrhoids and my "Dr" was pretty sure that my bleeding issues were related to my hemorrhoids. However, its not just fresh blood there are usually clots as well and the water in the toilet is completely red. When I have a BM the clots can pass on their own, on stool or are on the paper. I have mentioned this to my dr. before but he really did not have anything to say about it. I am going on day 5 now of cramping pain and bleeding and about 5-6 bms a day. Has anyone experienced similar bleeding with clots/mucus just from hemorrhoids? I always thought the hemmies just produced fresh blood and a lot of pain.

I have had hemorrhoids for 31 years. I have had ones bleed to the extent that the blood was running down my leg. And just a little blood in the toilet can cause the bowl to be quite red. And my hemorrhoids don't always hurt when they are bleeding.

However, I don't like the sound of this clotting. I have had pea sized bloody mucousy clots that I know are hemorrhoid related. If my 'roids have been bothering me a lot this might happen once, no more than twice, a day for 2-3 days. What you are describing sounds like MORE than a hemorrhoid problem. Is it possible for you to call the doctor and explain what has been happening for the last 5 days? I think he needs to evaluate your situation.

There are several causes as to why hemorrhoids occur. One cause is related to straining while expelling a hard stool from the anus. There are also surgical and non-surgical ways to http://www.hemorrhoidstreatment.net/ . Non-surgical procedures include sclerotherapy that involves injection of liquid into the base of the hemorrhoid, rubber band litigation wherein a tight rubber band is used to encircle the base of the hemorrhoid, heat coagulation wherein heat is used to kill the hemorrhoidal tissue, and cryotherapy which removes the veins by using cold temperature.

The same thing has been happening to me and I am starting to worry.  This isn't a normal flare like I have had in the past, it has been going on for a while but I am not so sick that I am in bed (I am going to work going to the gym, eating normally, etc) but then am doubled over in pain and have to run to the bathroom with D and bright red blood and mucous.  I am on Prednisone and remicaide, and my GI is doing all kinds of stool samples (testing me for c. diff AGAIN, parasites, etc, all the awful things you never thought you would have to think about).  I am also getting a CAT scan this week to see if it's something they are overlooking.  The pain seems to be higher in my stomach than before (usually it's my lower right side) - this time it's the lower right but also a few inches above my belly button.  So who knows what is going on now.  It seems to be worse in the morning and during the day - at nighttime I can eat dinner and sometimes not even go to the bathroom.  During the day however, I have been trying to eat very little so I am not having so many problems at work.

A side note on hemorroids though, if you have Crohn's you CANNOT get them removed.  Don't even think about it.  Yes there are ways to get rid of them but they are usually skin tags and will cause so many health problems if you try to remove them.  Be careful!

What happends if you get them removed? I'm struggling with thrombosed hemmies which seem to be doing okay but if they become clotted the surgeon wants them removed.

I know with CD one surgery leads to another ... is this the concept here?
Diagnosed with Crohn's 2004 via pill camera    Imuran (6MP) kicked into remission (along with modified diet) so went off in 2006.

2009/2010 acute flare and hospitalization - put back on Imuran. Currently taking 55 mg prednisone.
Current problem - protruding thrombosis hemorrhoid.

I used to be a hemorrhoid sufferer, but I never experienced what you are having now. You should go back to your doctor and have it check again. In case you are wondering, I got rid of my hemorrhoids by using H Miracle.
