In drink a diet Sunkist orange soda everyday.  Diet wise, I know it's not healthly ... but I LOVE the stuff.  The only problem; when I'm in a flare, the carbonation bothers my gut.  Same with beer.  when I'm in a flare, didn't even show me a beer.

I don't know if it is "ok" to drink since everyone with this disease seems to react to different things in different ways.  I personally almost never drink anything fizzy.  I can't tolerate the caffeine in coke etc anyway, but even things like lemonade generally don't agree with me because they increase my bloating.  I do occassionally have a drink of lemonade etc and it doesn't affect my crohn's, other than increasing bloating.

I can have a soda every so often, but its not something I drink everyday. When flaring caffiene and I are not friends, but I am in remission right now, so on occasion soda is okay. Otherwise, I personally drink Gatorade most of the time as that agrees with me all the time. Good luck!

Some people would say caffeine is no good for CD.  Some would say sugar isn't good either.  However I can't live without my Mt Dew - Diet or regular.

I can't do bubbles. I have a cup of tea in the morning, maybe 2, then its water with a squeeze of lemon for the rest of the day. I rarely drink anything else.

I drink diet coke daily--sometimes 3 or 4 per day.  I also drink lots of coffee.  I've been doing it for so long that I really don't know if it affects my Crohn's or not.  These are my guilty pleasures that I have no intention of giving up.

Ah...don't get me started on coffee (enter Homer drool here).  I figured that would be a whole other discussion. turn

I don't drink much pop at all, but tell me I can't have one and then for sure I'm gonna want one. And I do however, tolerate a Coors Lt well on occassions lol. I don't come 500 feet near OJ and Tomato sauce though.

I find the combination of carbonation + sugar dump a bit rough on the system. But the main reason I avoid fizzy drinks is because they're empty calories and I already struggle enough with a sweet tooth when it comes to food as it is.

Caffeine, though, doesn't seem to affect me at all. Black coffee, overpriced energy shots (the still ones)... they don't appear to wake up my brain or my guts >.>

At the moment, pretty much all I'm drinking is tea and hot water. The hot water I find oddly comforting and it helps to move things along, I think.

I drink a cup of coffee every morning, and drink diet coke all the time. Neither seems to have an affect on my system. I will say though, that the coffee gets my system going. (I don't have constant D so it works for me...when I do have a lot of D I cut back on the coffee)

I have an A&W rootbeer once a week- every other week with no problems. I just get tired of drinking water all the time and need some type of flavor. I do drink coffee and I know if I drink to much cuz I will start to get "D". I then back off for a while.

I don't notice any difference when I drink soda or not. I think it's a personal thing.

I got off my diet coke addiction six months ago ... was tough but considering that it has more acid than your stomach, can't be good for digestion. I do order one when I go out for a treat ...

Have you tried some yummy teas such as fennel, peppermint, cinnamon or licorcie which are delicious and aid in digestion ... you get all the benefits with out any of the downsides ....
Diagnosed with Crohn's 2004 via pill camera    Imuran (6MP) kicked into remission (along with modified diet) so went off in 2006.

2009/2010 acute flare and hospitalization - put back on Imuran. Currently taking 55 mg prednisone.
Current problem - protruding thrombosis hemorrhoid.

Many contain caffeine (a typical no no for IBD) and tons of sugar (also a typical no no), even the one that are "diet" and contain artificial sweetners (another no no) all those can exacerbate IBD symptoms.... and carbination is killer on the ol' bones (also a no no), it's full of empty calories, bad for your teeth and overall health...chamomile tea, water and only 100% fresh juice for this CDer.

:)

bee propolis caps 500mg one cap twice/day
omegas 369 caps one cap twice/day
probiotics 10 billion cfu once/day
vitamins C-calcium ascorbate (easy on the gut) and vitamin A each once/day
Prodiem fibre supplement one cap before bed
I've also altered my diet (no junky stuff at all, processed, fast-foods, refined sugars, ect) and exercise regularly.
I went from 30+ bloody BM's/day with lots of lower back pain to an average of 5/day no bleeding no back pain and completely formed stools, still have severe urgency issues.

Sodas are loaded with sugar. Sugar always increase the inflammation. I drink water or put some oranges in the kitchen machine and mix some cold water to it and voila, a super healthy and good tasting drink. I also drink 2 cups of coffee each day./Bee

Really just depends on you. Soda is bad for everyone but so is a lot of other stuff ;)

I personally found that even a small sip of something carbonated made me feel awful. I hung up the soda thing a few years ago and aren't even tempted by it even more. It really makes me miserable. I drink unsweet tea, coffee (when I can), and water. Alcohol when I can ;)

I'm trying not to have any at the moment. It's hard as I love the stuff but think the gas in it doesn't help me out. Plus I've cut out caffeine other than a little bit of tea. But if you can enjoy it every now and then, I say go for it :)
