I started Lialda two weeks ago. At first, I thought I saw a difference but then I started getting very bloated and having d a lot. I am thinking this is a side effect and it isn't working for me. What do you think? I swear this is so frustrating!!! It's like I can't eat anymore or if I go off a very bland low residue diet of chicken and rice, crackers, soups, I have diarrhea. I am at my wits end with this and am going to call my doctor back. They are often so conservative with the medication thing. My reflux has also been bad. I have read that nexium can cause diarrhea and wonder if it is causing this. I also wonder if the ibs is kicking in as well. I hate my ibs meds (donnatal or symax) because they dry me out so bad that it makes my sinuses bleed and stop up. Anybody have any better suggestions for ibs meds? I guess I will take some imodium today to see if that helps. Any suggestions for me or advice?? With all this said, once most everything is out of my system (going to the toilet about 10 times, the d stops.

I am wondering if you might have developed a small intestine bacterial overgrowth. I am being treated for one right now and my symptoms are gas and bloating especially after eating, and sorta of a reflux kind of feeling. I am taking Cipro for 10 days to heal it. You might want to ask your doc about that. Another suggestion for the IBS part of it, is Librax. This really helps to stop the cramping and d and also has an anti anxiety med in it to calm your spirits. I love the stuff. Hope that helps a little. Hugs!

Thanks so much Gail for your prompt response! Can you take librax every day or every other day without getting addicted to it? It sounds like it may have a controlled substance similar to valium in it. I am allergic to cipro and flagyl actually gives me diarrhea. I think I also need to get on a different antidepressant. All this stuff is driving me nuts and I just can't find the right balance or figure out what is working and what is upsetting the balance I am on so many meds! I think I will ask for the librax next week when I go to my primary care doc. It would probably also help with my periodic limb movement sleep disorder. I am not taking anything for that right now! Sometimes, it is so hard to keep up. Thanks again for always being here and giving such good support and advice!!!!!

I am not sure if you can take Librax daily or not to tell the truth. I only use it on occasion:)
