Hi Ladies!
I have been a Crohn's patient for 15 plus years. I finally started on Remicade in November and so far so good. Much relief of my symptoms (although I wasn't cured in one treatment like I was hoping - ha ha). I am 46 and getting to the "change" I guess. Before I started Remicade my periods were pretty infrequent and - maybe heavy ones 3 -4 times a year (which to be honest was fine with me). Now that I've done the treatments, I have had three, heavy, long periods - which is not at all like I had when I was younger. I had short, regular periods then. So my question, oh ladies of the forum, what do you think? Is this a side effect of the Remi? Is it that I am premenopausal and will eventually stop? Is it that I was "backlogged" from when I was flaring all those years?

It's not that I don't enjoy them, I'd just like to return to something normal-ish. But hey... we are Crohn's patients... normal doesn't really apply, right?

Have you gone and seen your OB/Gyn about this? I know that Crohns can really make that time of the month miserable, but you sound like something else is going on. At your gyn office they can do blood tests to check your hormone levels and that might provide some answers for you. Before I had my hysterectomy, I had to go back on BC pills to help with my monthly (and I had already had my tubes tied). So maybe thats an option for you too. Good luck!
