Hello to all. I have noticed that once in a while, (once every 2 weeks maybe), I will wake up with lots of gas. You know, the large amount gas that gets released with your first morning urination.
Anyway, i noticed that sometimes i let so much gas out, I get a little mucus discharge. It does not go into the toilet, but I need to wipe it off with toilet paper.
What is the deal with this? This used to happen often when I was a teenager and I was diagnosed with IBS about
10 years ago (my IBS flare had lasted about
4 months).
Thanks.

I don't know anything about

This happens to me - but usually it happens when i am first having a flare - but I will get lots of gas, and with it comes mucous and then blood, then both with D. It's scary but it seems to be just what happens as part of my process. If you aren't having a flare then maybe ask your doctor about
adding more fiber (something like Metamucil) to increase the bulk of your stool and it might cut down on it. If I knew how to stop it I would be the first one to tell you!! :)

This is normal for both IBS and IBD (I have both) and this is quite common, major difference is that I actually have bowel movements first thing in the morning, and that's when most of my gas is (whenever needed to have a bowel movement)...since I started taking fibre supplements (as directed by my GI) my mucous has virtually disappeared, and my gas is cut way down (mostly only in the am when I first get up as I mentioned above). Since taking fibre supplements I also have no more bloating, it's cut back some of my BM frequency as well, every little bit helps and I can eat fibreous foods without getting all gassy or bloated.
:)
bee propolis caps 500mg one cap twice/day
omegas 369 caps one cap twice/day
probiotics 10 billion cfu once/day
vitamins C-calcium ascorbate (easy on the gut) and vitamin A each once/day
Prodiem fibre supplement one cap before bed
I've also altered my diet (no junky stuff at all, processed, fast-foods, refined sugars, ect) and exercise regularly.
I went from 30+ bloody BM's/day with lots of lower back pain to an average of 5/day no bleeding no back pain and completely formed stools, still have severe urgency issues.
~~~~~~~~My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)~~~~~~~~
