Hi,   I have been in here for several days trying to get up to date.  then I had to look  up the info I found in your posts.  I have  not been researching for a long time.  First I was doing so well I stopped looking for answers and then I got sick again, but on and off for a year now, thinking the Dr. would get me back to remission. no big deal. he did it before.  He could do it again.  But it has not happened and he is now telling me he is at a loss for what to do now.  I am in the process of getting a second opinion from a Dr. at Shann's,, a research hospital.  My stricture area hurts.  It does not stretch like it should and is easily inflammed and swollen, which makes things trying to pass through difficult and painful.  This causes me to bloat and be miserable.  Back to the hospital, they run the usual tests, meds, and 3 to 6 days later I go home.  They say low residue diet but I am not even able to do that!  I drink liquids and then move up slowly to adding some soft foods.  Soon after I am on all soft foods, couple of weeks max, I start hurting.  I drop down to liquids only but it doen't help.  The whole process begins again.  Dr. has tried increasing my Remicade dosage, more frequent remicade treatments, on and off steroids and anti biotics, and now they are trying to treat me for Crohn's and IBS.  Guess what...the pain is back...here we go again.  My Dr. also does not like giving me the pain meds....says they are addictive.  Anybody else having problems convincing their Dr. to give them pain meds?  I have the big D so often that constipation is not a problem.
I was in the hospital sept. of last year and I picked up MRSA.  I am still fighting it.  A weak immune system, remicade, and the prednisone I just came off of, it has been nearly impossible to heal up the cysts or stop them from coming back.  I bathe and wash  my hair with Hibiclens....good grief!  I have missed so much work that I will be out of FMLA by April at this rate.
dx 1994, 52 yr old female. colonectomy with ileostomy, 3 intestinal blockages, reconnect/ remove ileostomy. c-section and tubal. gall bladder removal. so now no Dr. wants to go back in my abdomin due to scar tissue. stricture area near the reconnection. barrett's syndrome.  remicade, entocort, xifaxin, paxil, aciphex, donnatol, b-12 shots, vicadin, clindomy acin, plus vitamins and minerals.

First off welcome Ding1957!! Good year to be born;) I feel so bad for you. I have had two resections myself and another resection for me has to be life or death, because like you I have alot of scar tissue problems too. I am so sorry to hear you have another stricture. Have they tried to do a dialation of the stricture? That might help to open it up a little. Just a thought!

I sure hope this second doctor can see things from a new angle and maybe get you feeling better soon. Again welcome, and I look forward to hearing more from you.

Hey Ding1957:

I've flared with Crohn's for the first time six years ago and now for the second time just this last Thanksgiving and was hospitalized too. I was stumped as what to do and every day, I'm here either reading a post or posting a question. I've learned SO much from the VERY informed moderaters (THANKS NANNERS specifically) for this forum. I feel in many ways I'm starting all over again as what worked before isn't working this time. And my doctor's don't provide any answers as how to manage this disease on a daily basis. They look at it from a clinicial basis - i.e. what Rx is working based on what lab result comes back.

So, don't be shy ... ask away. For those of us who can't answer your questions or can't relate (i.e. I've never had surgery or a stricture) you will get lots of support as we have all had lots of D and lots of pain ...

Isn't CD a pain in the A$#? A pain ih the butt? Isn't it the craps? Ha, I like that these phrases apply literally!

Hang in there! We are here for you!
