ok, I get what I call gas blockage's, in the area that I have had 2 resection's. i thought was scare tissue, until 4 yr's ago I had colonoscopy, and gi said it was inflamed cd, so when I get these things happen and gas can't go thru, I'm doubled up in pain, and more than likely have to take pain med's. the only time I don't is ifI feel that maybe gas will go thru usually if that's the 1/2 hr. to 1 hr. and gas will go thru, but if it doesn't then I'm in for one of those 2-4 hr of horrible very painful episodes, is tha just flareing cd or gas? my imuran and pred. mix has kept it quite plus really strict diet. but does anybody else experience those type's of blockages or is it cd flare's?

Yep, I am experiencing this on an ongoing basis and mine is most likely gas. I've been taking BEANO and it has helped where no Rx I've been given has ... maybe give that a try to rule out gas?

Would levsin or something else work? Just trying to think .... I've gotten lots of GREAT advice from an enlightened pharmist in my old hometown from Pharmaca which is a wholistic pharmacy ... I think they have a 24/7 call in line ... maybe you could call and talk to someone or a store in the nearest town? Mine from Sonoma, CA could help - ask for either Jonathan in the Pharamcy or Paul (GM) or Shizandra who is a nutritionist ... 707-938-1144. They usually have good ideas. The corporate website is: http://www.pharmaca.com/pharmacy/pharmacy.

Those are all the ideas I can think of for helping with the gas issue ... as for strictures/obstructions, I've never had one so I have lean on you guys if/when I get to that point. I'm hoping my problems ARE gas! As they hurt!

Hang in there ... does a heating pad help? Can you tell I'm a mother?

Very cute .. but I feel for you. I bought a papaya based on your tip and I think it helped but boy are they expensive in Iowa in the winter (and tiny!)

those are the hawaiann papaya's I neve but those. I buy the maradol or mexican papaya's. they also have been called carribean red. but there huge 2-5 lb's. when I eat them plain, I'll sprinkle with alittle salt then squeeze lime on. It brings out the flavor. so the brand name is either maradol or carribean red. but theycome from mexico. look for slight brownish or alitle orange in color, a little gren as well, slightly soft but not gooshi. I was at whole food when I started to eat them and their was a chef going thru the pile and I asked her the best way to tell a ripe one. she gave me a really good schooling in how to pick one out, now I'm a pro. I eat 2 a week. and those are about 2-4 lb's ea. If i ate hawaianns I would go broke, the big one's cost about a buck a lb. maybe a little more. I spend about $50 a month. so worth it for me. it is the best med I take by far.

the gas might be from the pectin in the fruit
but the protease enzymes are a great natural way to help with the polypeptide (protein) digestion though and the benefits of that fruit seem really good otherwise.
I get alot of bowel bulk if i eat alot of mandarin oranges.

my gas is from 9ft of small intestine that was surgically removed, so my digestive tract is not to good, I get gas really easy, the papaya has made me have less gas. it causes me to help in digestion of food. it really is the best med. that i take.

Yes I get these episodes of pain artist guy. Sometimes the gas and pressure is so bad that I have to throw up. Not too often thankfully.

Had an episode last night, the pain would build up and then as bowel noises came from my abdomen the pain would subside. It was weird the noises started on my front left and in 2 or 3 seconds would cross my abdomen transversaly to the right. This is very unusual for me. Like artist guy if I don't get the gas noises then I'm in for a long rough ride. I'm guessing the diffence is from varying types of flares or blockages.

Get some Simethicone or "gas X"
Semethicone doesnt prevent gas, it doesnt remove gas. it Breaks down Gas bubbles to smaller bubbles so it will pass out or up.
