Just need some feedback from all you wise ones.

As some of you who have been active on the board know, I have been in emerg 2 times over the last 3 weeks for pain meds, rehydration etc.... 21 weeks pregnant so concerned about that!!

Last Thursday was my last visit. they gave me 50mg of pred and sent me off to go get some Entocort and get that started... So I am now on Entocort and Pentasa..

Last Friday I awoke with crazy bowel swelling. Feels like they got everything all kicked up by pushing and digging around in there. So I have been just monitoring myself and staying on top of the pain meds as they are much needed.

Called my gastro today to find out how long it usually takes the Entocort to kick in and when the nurse called me back she advised the doc said I should head to emerg again...

I don't wanna go!!!!!

Yes I am in pain and swollen, but I am not vomiting or having insane d that would dehydrate me.... Baby is fine, saw the OBGYN yesterday and she confirmed that..
No blood in my stools, no faintness, no fever.....

Do I need to / should I be going to emerg??? What would be your trigger to go??
My gastro works out of another hospital so will just be waiting on my tests to be faxed thru to him so it is not like he will even be there to consult...

Am I being too stubborn or is staying on bed rest and taking it as it comes ok too? I mean if it gets worse I am no dummy and will go immediately, I just really do not want to go again if I can avoid it...

you don't really have to go unless the pain is unbearable. Your anxiety is going to make it worse. its very important that you and your baby get the nutrution you need.

please go get some gatorade and soup and eat only the 2.. water will help 2.

yes entocort takes awile but it is MORE responsive in healthy patients.

could you call your GYN doc? I think the larger issue is your baby, seems like you your dehydration issues and other CD issues in check. If your GYN/OB doens't think you need to go the ER, then maybe not. My inclination is that your GI doc is covering himself legally, as he should. Your situation is complicated. I feel for you, having three sons myself although my CD didn't flare until years after their birth. Sounds like this is uncomfortable, but the baby seems like he/she is being well take care of! Mama knows best .. trust your instict and if you question it ... call your OB/GYN or the Help Nurse.

Usually for me the ER is reserved for uncontrollable pain or if I am feeling dehydrated. If you aren't feeling that bad, I would just continue to rest at home. But if things start to go downhill, then head on into the ER. Good luck!
