Does anyone have this problem, where if the eat too much of a certain food, they get a fever? I'm not sure if it's eating too much of that one food or if it's just eating too much in one sitting, but this has happened to me at least 7 times since I got sick. Could it be that the certain food causes inflammation or just too much food at once causes inflammation and then fevers? They aren't low grade fevers either, they get up to 103 usually. I'm just at a loss for what else could be going on.

could it be coincidence? What does your doc say about the fevers?

My temps are not related to food intake. They do seem to happen when I push myself too hard in a day. More often than not it's just when the disease is busy.

I get fevers when I have some sort of infection.  My temps have gotten really high then go back down.  When I first really started a flare it went up as high as 103 then would go back down with tylenol then back up, etc until finally the fever broke after a few days.  i went to the dr in the meantime.  i don't think i was eating much those few days, maybe just gatorade (bad idea with all the sugar for me) and brown rice.

hope you are doing okay!

Thanks guys, I have no idea why this happens. I will get a fever for one day that knocks me out and then it goes away by the next day. Could it possibly be fiber? Can fiber cause inflammation? The last time the only thing I could think of that I ate differently were raisins. In the past if I ate too much peanut butter, I would get a fever.

My doc thinks I'm crazy. I told him if I ate too much peanut butter, I would get a fever. He told me that nobody gets fevers from peanut butter.

I don't know why it happens, but I feel like there is some connection and it is more than coincidental.

Do those foods you are eating cause D? If you are going a lot, you could be dehydrated and that in itself could cause higher body temps.

Has your doc run any blood tests recently? Inflammation would be my first thought...but if you are running temps that high I'd be concerned something is going on:(

What meds does you doc have you on?

103 sounds too high a temperature to be related to inflammation alone. Over the last few months, I've been getting raised temperatures in the evening sometimes, anything from 37.3 to 38C (not sure offhand what that is in F, sorry >_<). I don't get them every night and I'm not sure what's different about the nights that I do get them except that in general I feel worse; more bloating, discomfort, pain, etc.

I consider the temps I'm getting now to be low-grade, but 103 definitely isn't low-grade. Sounds like your doctor could do with taking it more seriously, but then again I'm not sure how often they're happening - 7 times in two years, for example, wouldn't be very much, but 7 times in two weeks would be.

The food doesn't always cause D. Sometimes it's a little loose, but not all the time. But I think I am probably dehydrated when it happens, which could lead to the high temps, which is a good point.

I haven't done blood tests in a couple months, but I am due. I'm on both Remicade and Methotrexate.

I'm wondering if it could possibly be a food allergy, but I'm not sure if food allergies can cause fevers.

I'm gonna say get your blood tested asap...I am pretty sure allergies do not cause 103 fevers...don't mess around with high fevers since it is your body's way of saying it is fighting something:(
