Anybody try it?  just curious.... I've gained weight with steroids and am looking for a good diet.  SCD looks too restrictive for me.  I wouldn't last a day on that.
Current meds:  Remicade and probiotics
Tried:  Prednisone, lialda, antibiotics all failed attempts.

If you can tolerate fruits and veggies take a look at the Low Glycemic LOAD (a little different from the GI Index)'s basically the south beach. I don't follow a guide, I've just eliminated starches (and added exercise!).

You really need to watch intake AND exercise for continued results.

if you are physically able to, exercise is so important, any form that you're up to, from walking to hiking, biking, running, yoga, tai chi, I rode race horses for my living with cd, and worked out on a bike, kept mine in remission for years, with no med's

Yes! My husband did it and he is our cook so I did it too.  Loved it even though I didn't need to lose weight.  I avoided the fake sugars they reccomend but otherwise really enjoyed it.  I tolerated the veggies more than I expected and didn't miss the carbs much = it teaches you knew ways of eating carbs rather than no carbs.  I highly recommend it.
27 Year old married female lawyer.  Diagnosed w/ CD 5 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For Crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night.  I take xanax prn for situational anxiety (aka no easy bathroom access).

Yeah I'm not able to exercise much because of leg pain. And I ate alot of white carbs to help my stomach get through the tough times. Crackers, toast, plain pasta. Stomach is feeling a little better so I'm willing to start reducing all that white starches. We'll see how goes!

That's funny, I find SCD very easy, but would have a hard time with South Beach or Atkins. I love my honey and grape juice, which would be big time no-nos with those diets smilewinkgrin. However, low carb is supposed to be really good for crohn's (read "Life without Bread" sometime), so you may do just great on it. Good luck!

I am 30/female that has mild Chrohn's that only flares once a year. I also have hypothyroidism/hashimoto's and meniere's disease. I have found the South Beach Diet to help my symptoms. I don't want to go on medicine for Chrohn's. The diet has helped me feel normal.
