I had a bowel resection recently where the majority of my terminal ileum was removed. The pathologist found the bacteria actinomycosis. My surgeon says that it is very rare but is associated with Crohn's. I am being treated by an infectious disease doctor who is amazed by the bacteria. Has anyone ever heard of this? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks confused .

From what I'm reading it isn't linked to Crohn's, but in fact the infection from actinomycosis can be mistaken for Crohn's. It can even cause abscesses and fistulas. There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on it though, but very interesting, I've never heard of it before.
