I am wondering if anyone here has had success in getting their insurance company to cover any cost of their LDN prescription. I have Anthem and according to their prescription list they cover Naltrexone HCL, but I guess not in the powder form. I am trying to decide if it is worth fighting with them to cover it.

Thanks!
500 mg of Pentasa 4 times a day, 1 Florastor 2 times a day, 2 mg LDN at bed time, 1400 IU Vitamin D3

Prior medication until LDN:100 mg Imuran a day - GI wanted 150 mg, but I didn't want to destroy my liver, 1 Gram of Pentasa 4 times a day, 3 mg of Entocort 3 times a day, Librax as needed

That sounds good but I don't think I would be very good at making my own. I finally got my Rx increased to 4mg and picked up the new dosage today. It was $69 and the other compounder in town charges $54!! So needless to say I called around to a few places listed on the LDN website and the lowest I found was $22 shipped and the next lowest at $38. I think when my next refill is due I am going to fill at one of those two places.

One's medical insurance is much more likely to cover 50 mg Naltrexone tablets
for drug or alcohol addiction than the compounded variety for IBD. You can get
the tablets online inexpensively and, once you have them, they are easy to
convert to liquid LDN. /Bee

My daughter has Chron's disease and although we have been seeing a spcialist, I have just learned this last week about LDN. A couple of questions, Have you seen success with LDN? Where do I find a doctor to prescribe?

It's really easy to make. Put 50 ml of distilled water in am amber colored bottle/jar. Place one 50 mg Naltrexone in the bottle. Shake when dissolved. That's it! Just use an oral syringe to pull out however much you're taking (I take 3 mg, so 3 ml of the mixture).

Cantrabla, if you haven't already, visit http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/ . Also go to http://www.webspawner.com/users/howtoobtainldn/index.html to find out how to find a doctor that prescribes it (or how to get it at an overseas pharmacy yourself).

I know of several people at an SCD board who say LDN really helps. It's hard to say myself, because I was already doing well when I started it (it's one of my insurance policies for trying to stay well). I was hoping it would help my fatigue more (it has helped some, but not a lot), however, I just found out that my thyroid is not up to snuff. Once I get that worked out, hopefully I'll get more energy.
