Did you guys know Dennis Kucinich had Crohn's as a child? Apparently he went Vegan and now he's doing well. Not sure if this is common knowledge but I was blown away.

Here is a video of him talking about it: http://www.therealfoodchannel.com/page/42.html

I saw that too last week. But I've heard of crohnie's who do the vegan thing and it didn't help them. Maybe it would work for some of us though. Who know what causes all of this nonsense.

Do you mean that his Crohn's has gone into remission? From all my studying Crohn's is a life long disease that we always have. I have found that the more chicken and fish I eat the better I feel. There is no way that I could ever go vegetarian because I love meat but I could definitely continue limiting red meat if it helps.

I'm skeptical that a vegan diet by itself would put Crohn's into remission, but a healthy diet could indeed be anti-inflammatory. I'm personally partial to the Zone Diet which has helped me a lot:

I suggest looking at the above link for useful information. The actual zonediet.com web site is terrible - pretty much nothing but an advertisement for Zone Diet products, which are totally unnecessary.

Robert
