Flares and surgery

do you think the amount/strength of flare ups is what eventually leads to needing surgery?

No, most people with Crohns are having diarrhea on and off, and they are treated with medicines to calm down the inflammation. Some Crohnies need surgery because the ongoing inflammation sometimes creates narrowing or strictures or abcesses and strictures. These are all mentioned as complications of Crohns. An other type of surgery could be to get a J-pouch. /Bee
