Thanks for the info last night on the enemas., it worked heating it up, I manage to get through the whole enema, slowly but it worked, I have now kept it in for about 3 hours and dont have the 'urge' to go yet either, so hopefully will last til morning. Pity about the sleep though, I still can't sleep, not through lack of trying! I feel exhausted but my body just won't let me!

I am so glad to hear that I was able to help and that you've been able to retain it for longer this time. That's very encouraging, Ashworth. I hope that every enema you retain will help the inflammation a little, and make it easier to retain the Predsol the next night, and on and on until you don't need it anymore.

Now, about this not sleeping: is that because of pain, or the worry about "losing" the enema during the night, or for some other reason?

I had to do Predsol nightly for more than a year because I'd run out of medical options and medications like Rem and Humira weren't available at that time, and between the pain and the lack of sleep I became *very* wobbly mentally. If this sleeplessness continues, Ashworth, is there any way you could speak with your doctor about it? Never underestimate the effect that long-term lack of sleep can have on your mental and physical health...

Keep hanging in there,

Ivy.

ps. I found (& find) books on tape very helpful during the long sleepless nights.

I will speak to the doctor about it, because it is every night, I am tired when I get into bed but lay there.... I end up getting up and going to bed at about 3 in the morning, but once I'm asleep I usually get around 6-7 hours. There's one thing about it, the house is always tidy when I get up because I potter around and all the ironing is up todate when there is any. Sad really but, anyway!!

Hmmm.

How long has this been going on, Ashworth?

How's your mood otherwise? Are you feeling sad, or withdrawn, or losing interest in your usual activities? (I suspect you're too tired to be energetic and enthusiastic about things...)

You might find it helpful to keep a sleep diary for the doctors. For some reason they listen more if things are kept in some sort of official & tabulated form. You'll probably be able to find one through Google: if not, give me a hoy if you want one, and I'll try to email you a copy of mine (I say "try" because sending attachments is always challenging, given my moderate computer skills :-) ).

Its been on and off for the past month since the pred started but has got worse the past week or so. I do have teary moments but I think thats due to the pred. I have my days when I don't want to anything but I think every body does, and also depends on if I'm nauseas or if my stomach is playing up (lots of diarrhoea. I am going to the doctors next week anyway, so will discuss it with her, but inthe meantime I will look for a diary and start filling it out.
Thanks for the support x
