Hello, after reading all the horror stories about not being any meds, I decided to go back on my Pentasa. I have tried Lialda and could not tolerate it. I have plenty of Pentasa at home and wanted to use that up. I have developed a horrible sore throat. I have read that is one of the rare side effects of Pentasa. Has anyone experienced this? If so how long will it last. I don't think the pentasa is going to help me much as I feel worse now then ever. What would be my next choices? I now I need to get on something.
Also the beads from the Pentasa seem like they rip thru me causing pain with BM"S. IS this normal?
Thanks so much. KayC

I would talk to your GI about restarting the meds and whether your sore throat is normal. If you feel worse then ever then you should definitely look into getting some treatment.. When I went in December I felt like that and was put on prednisone and I am now on imuran (prior to that I was on pentasa for maintenance after entocort for my first flare)
The beads from pentasa showing up in your BMs is normal, but I don't think the pain is...
Anyways I would definitely consult your GI, good luck!!
