Hey guys..hopefully some of you rememeber me I know I only post here when I have problems lol but this is really my only source (see other threads I started)

Anyway im 20 now was dxed at 15 had the 2 bowel resections 1 at maybe 16 another at 18..always because terrible pain (stricutres blockages throwing up black and what not)

Im from NJ and recently went to Florida for a couple months to live with a family memeber but crohns started flaring so I came back to New Jersey..the problem is I have no GI (my old 1 was a pediartic GI) and only have a PCP who I just started seeing ..I only saw him once so far like 4 months ago but I liked the guy.

Well the pain is back like pre surgery pain only now im not constipated or have D im going to the bathroom normal but the lower back pain is there (was gas last time) knees/shins hurt legs just hurt...im also not puking or anything so im pist..when they were trying to find out what this "pain" was before it was the worst like 3-4 months ever...chriopractor, flexril, napraxen, appts with back doctors saying I have mild ospertosis all was a waste and I suffered a lot of pain and torture becuase in the end I had a bowel resection and all the pain was gone. But this time it cant be a bowel resection becuase im not constipaed at all and my stomach is not bloated/heavy like it was before (its def still a little gassy though)

So how can I bring up to my PCP that I have no other doctors but him right now, of course I will ask him for referals to a New Jersey GI and maybe a pain mangment doc (do they even do that for 20 year olds?) BUTT that takes months and months and I am very busy right now with school and work and im the type of person to play stuff off and I will not show im in pain but on the inside will be hurtingggg..so im going to ask him for pain meds and not the run around of stuff that doesnt come close..I have a tolerance I was on morphine in the hospital and they had to switch to something stronger (dialudid maybe) I dont want anything like that and of crouse was doing my googling and found tramadol to help with pain non narcotic and even help with depression (which I have but dont like to admit)..or maybe oxycodone but something without tylentol or advil becuase that tears up my stomach...

Umm any advice how I can bring this up without looking inpaintent like how do I get some instant relief..I will take the referalls and make the appts as I want the other docs too but right now he is all I have and need some relief..( Felt good to type that..its cool if you dont reply)

First off I hope your new doctor has all of your past records, that would be a start, because then everything is documented and you don't look like you are just seeking drugs. Next explain that you want to get set up with all the appointments for GI and pain management but need something in the meantime. Your best bet would be Tramadol since it isn't narcotic and PCP would be more likely to RX it. BUT pain management clinics can usually get people in pretty quickly and while this sound kind of callous, they don't care why you are in pain, they just want to relieve your pain. So you don't have to wait for all the diagnostics. They are pretty good at helping to find a medication that will help you function while still taking away your pain. I hope you feel better soon.

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

you said "my old 1 was a pediartic GI". if your still in the area of your old GI why not ask him to refer you to another adult GI. Since he/she's treated you for years he'll probably refer you to a very good one. I had to get pain meds without tylenol as well. Tramadol didn't work. I now take Morphine Sulfate Immediate Release (MSIR)

John510- where in NJ are you located? I am from the central shore area of jersey. Def get into finding a GI. PCP's are great and all for little stuff but this disease is serious stuff. I'm 27 and have had Crohns for 25 years - I know nothing else. I am also in your shoes trying to find someone to help with pain management but have had no luck. GI's don't like handing out pain med scripts!

I can refer you to my dr. She is at Jefferson in Philly and believe me, I have seen SOO many GI's out there from Cleveland, to NYC, to Jersey, to Philly and I am so fortunate to have found her. Email me and I can give you the info.
