My daughter has recently had a very strong body odor, that lingers even when she leaves the room. It's a chemically smell is all I can say. Ammonia or methane or vinegar (from what others have guessed). She has crohn's and has not been well for a few months. This odor has me alarmed to say the least....anyone have any ideas???
My 14 yr old daughter has Crohn's. Diagnosed March 08. Currently taking Imuran and Pentasa. Also probiotics, Vit D and C supplements, Omega 3, folic acid, calcium.

Dear docdundidit, while I was on entocort my wife, and family immediately noticed an odor. It did not matter if I just got out of the shower, I could scrub hard and I still stunk! My doctor did not believe me until another patient
told him the same. It took about 2 or 3 weeks after being off of the drug before the odor went away. I wish you and your daughter the best. mike
problems since I was very young (8) not diagnosed until 1992ish-
fistulizing crohns, multiple abcess, severe adhesions, gallbladder removed, 1st surgery we had to leave my incision open to heal, at age 24 was told I may have to go to a nursing home after my surgery. multiple surgeries since first one, bad side effects to all forms of steroids both new and old.  I was blessed enough to work 16 years in fire/ems before being told I cannot work.  Now going to pain clinic and making the most of what I have-
On and off to many meds to even think of listing (like most of us)

I would mention this to your daughters doc.

I've had an odor for a while, but it stems from a fistulotomy I had years ago. (Or so I think it does lol) Wish I could be of more assistance; however mine does not smell like a "chemical." I heard Candida (bacteria) could give off a chemical smell, may be something to look into.

Hi, I don't know why it is but I had the same problem. I didn't even know about it until a friend told me...said it was ammonia or iodine or something that smelt like chemicals. It's very distinct and happens when I'm ill and it's mostly gone away as I have gotten older.
