You state that you have cardio myopathy, but do you have Crohns Disease? I know that many with Crohns with develop either allergies to their meds or will get some skin issues related to their Crohns. Sometimes when you change soap or detergent this will cause some itching, but you state its always at night. A little confused about the cause. I would talk to your doctor about this. Good luck!

Are you on any pain meds? I have found that if I take ANY morphine based pain meds, I will start itching.
Dx'd w/ Crohn's in 1979 at age 14, have had minor flares throughout the years, but mostly kept in remission. Bad flare 2008 but no health insurance so I dealt with it. Colonoscopy in July 2009 caused a perforated colon, emergency bowel resection. Was on Pred. Dr. wants to try Humira...
Currently just take a multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, and fish oil.

Narcotics will do this for me.
But I also have experience with very dry skin, it never looked very dry but the dermitoigist gave me a really nice thick cream to use when I need it. You might start with making sure that you are using a very good moisturizer. (one that is hypoallergenic)

PS: I only get the dry skin in the winter and only on my shins and calfs.
