Hi, it's been a rough couple months, or month mostly and I thought I'd join to get to know more about this subject.
I already have hypothyroidism, enlarged thyroid and have dealt w/that over the years, but it has been looking pretty positive recently and I have studied it so much I usually can get it working good. It's caused stressed out adrenals and anxiety before, but for the most part, I'm a pretty normal, functioning and fun person : )
So my digestive system has slowly been going downhill, I already for the past few years on my own accord took out cow's milk (I drink rice milk or now coconut milk), then wheat, then slowly barely and then gluten. So I am pretty much a health nut. But my digestive system still wasn't agreeing. I tried eliminating foods and adding back foods that would cause these things. So I don't do Splenda anymore (probably the worst thing) and barley malt in anything (barely in wheat-free items) would cause acid reflux.
So then I guess the ER this past summer diagnosed me with Diverticulitus (which now my gastro says he saw my CT scan and says it was something else that goes away on its own, not Diverticulitus) and they treated me w/antibiotics and it went away. So then digestive downhill since then, I had a hard time working out on the trampoline w/acid reflux in my throat even with Tums or Pepcid AC, I tried Digestive Enzymes and HCI Betaine and so on. Diarrhea and nausea daily and was making me more nervous and weak at times trying to function and get through the day (I'm 34 btw w/two kids and a hubby).
So my Naturopath puts me on Flagyl ( a huge mistake) b/c I got so sick, I had to stop, I guess moral of that story is do not take antibiotics if you don't know what it is you have. So I got baaaaaaaaaaad anxiety after that and so I'm still dealing with a bit of anxiety/depression or something over the whole situation. Went to ER: had a cat scan and they said I was fine (intestinally), my sleep was disturbed, I'd wake up with cramps or diarrhea. I stopped eating much and then I said forget this and began just sticking to foods that will not cause harm: so I'm eating mostly boiled eggs, bananas, coconut milk, coconut bars, turkey meat or turkey sausage, rice milk, brown rice, quinoa noodles, strawberries, brown rice bread. I feel malnourished a bit, so I am going to go get more probiotics and liquid vitamins, b-stress (b/c I wonder if this has stressed my adrenal system). I take organic acacia fiber with no results. Coffee or no coffee (decaf, organic) doesn't seem to make a difference.
I also had Xray from my doctor w/no results, a stool sample, and I'm still waiting for results of my food allergies' testing (yeah on this one). But I just had my COLONOSOCOPY/ENDOSCOPY last night which caused me a lot of unecessary anxiety and I'm pretty tired today, trying to be positive.
So they think I have mild Crohn's and gerd (a bit of a mark on my esphogus from acid reflux) so I need to take Prilosec to get the stomach acid down.
At least I have a diagnosis, and I'm going to have to do what I can to BE WELL. I just want to be back to normal. Keep my thyroid functioning well, function well as a wife/mother and get back to my healthy lifestyle (I was working out and now I have to get back into it). My aunt has Crohn's and dealt w/a lot of hospitalizations and I feel for her, so now I'm preparing myself to be a HEALTHY PERSON!
