What probiotics help you, I've tried everything, I see little relief usually from yeast, but I keep it at bay with diet and probiotics mostly, but it's always waiting to creep up again, lol. In my gut or whatever.

What probiotics do you take? Of course mine have to be gluten and milk-free.

What other supps do you take to help with gut flora? Olive Leaf Extract or do you take fresh garlic, etc????

  • Hypothyroid w/enlarged thyroid and small cyst- I take care of this with regular labs, diet, exercise, supplements like Zinc, and a couple of thyroid medications. From time to time I take Wellbutrin if I go hypothyroid and feel blue or stressed out and it helps for a couple/few months.
  • I am finding that Magnesium Citrate 200-400mgs here and there for me is very calming when I'm feeling anxious.
  • I have burned out my adrenals before, and self-healed with licorice supplements, B stress vitamins, rest/relaxation/, lots of warm baths, turning the phone off, watching uplifting stuff and not the news, spirituality.
  • For any hormonal stuff Evening primrose oil and Boron 3mgs helps daily.
  • I'm a health nut w/thyroid weight to lose, and loves God.
  • I see an Endocrinologist, regular doctor, dermatologist, Chiropractor, Naturopath and now a Gastro Doc.
  • Just dx'd w/mild Crohn's and Gerd (w/ a sore in esophagus) trying Prilosec to keep stomach acid down (already tried digestive enzymes, avoiding certain foods, HCI Betaine w/Ox bile and so on).

The most helpful probiotic for me is Digestive Advantage Crohn's and Colitis (Colon Care Formula). I take it once a day normally but if I'm having a bad bowel day (cramps, gas, etc.) or if I'm in a flare I increase my dose to twice a day. Love it!! Oh, and it's lactose and gluten free.
Diagnosed with Crohn's this year at age 38.

I use Primadolphilus Fortify by Natures Way. I buy it at my local healthfood store. It has 8 billion CFU's in it. Hope that helps.

Okay I've tried Kyo-dophlus, works only, but only 1.5 billion, I've tried Swanson's with like 60 billion, but I didn't notice much difference, and NSI brand (Vitacost) 15 billion and I think that one is alright, the "pearls" they offer out there do not digest w/me and only have 1 billion anyway. Jarrow is always decent, but yes I have to have soy/dairy/gluten-free.

I'm just trying to figure out where to START I just got dgnxd two nights ago, but it all makes sense now.

For probiotics, I eat SCD yogurt (a trillion or so acidophilus per cup). I also rotate 4 natural anti-fungals (one week a piece): Garlic Oil Perles, Oil of Oregano, Olive Leaf Extract, & Grapefruit Seed Extract. I also eat some coconut oil everyday.

i found this link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saccharomyces_boulardii
ireally dont know what is best and cringe at the idea of eating yeast when i know i have problems with pizza dough which i imagine has some kind of yeast. wiki says itsa probiotic though.

The boron caught my eye in your sig tho. Thats really deep into this stuff, and imagine you have alot of knowledge having the thyroid issue.

I wouldn't mind Garden of Life, but it has Barley Grass in it- so not Gluten-free.

I've tried Sac boulardii didn't notice a difference and I've tried a number of probiotics and antifungals from prescriptions: nystatin and diflucan (didn't notice much) and coconut oil (I think does help a lot) and oil of Oregano did not do too well with my acid reflux (but I had the drops for under my tongue) and I heard garlic, unless immediately peeled raw and eaten isn't much help in pill form...and I think (sad) that I cannot tolerate garlic well. Have not tried Grapefruit seed but I should (as long as I keep it away from my thyroid meds) and I do have olive leaf in the cupboard, maybe I should be popping them.

I find it hard to get rid of sugar altogether from my diet, I mean I get juice or bananas or coconut bars with brown rice syrup from time to time, or even dates (figs are a no-no for me).

If you mix the oil of oregano with an olive oil base, perhaps it wouldn't bother your acid reflux so much. Also, I sometimes mince garlic, stuff it into a capsule, and take before dinner. I don't care for garlic, so that's a good way to get it in without the ugly taste.

There is also supplements called Candidex and CandiZyme. I've never taken them, but some people say they really help treating yeast.

Also, I've read that candida is seldom found alone. It is usually accompanied by harmful bacteria and/or parasites. This is due to an imbalance in the digestive tract. You may need to treat for both yeast and bacteria to get things back in order.

A Complete Stool Kit is needed to determine what is doing on in your intestines. I spent too much money guessing what I needed and now I use only what I know I need and save big bucks. Hope you find an answer.

I think I'm way too scared to take another antibiotic for anything, they tried giving me Cipro at the ER (just in case) and I did not take it b/c of what Flagyl did to me. I have had a stool sample, and blood tests for C diff and pylori so all those ruled out (phew). I tried a parasitic cleanse last summer and it made my stomach bloat so bad I think I can't tolerate the peppermint or garlic or something in it. Those are good ideas wwith the oregano and mincing the garlic, I wonder how my gut would take raw garlic.

I had one, I haven't heard results yet, so I should call. But they checked for fungus, parasites, fats and stuff. Not sure if it was a complete kit or anything.

I follow SCD to reduce the bacteria numbers (the bad ones anyway) and restore my gut ecology. There may be other dietary approaches as well.

I guess I need to make a lot of homemade broths, b/c the store bought ones have added yeast.

It's sad that they add some much junk to store-bought food. It would be nice not to have to cook EVERYTHING from scratch, but I guess we do what we gotta do.
