I'm curious when other people flare if they get high fevers. My GI said that it's not common. Mine get up to 103.2. I was checked for infection, and nothing comes back. I'm wondering if I'm just "lucky" in that when I flare my fevers get so high. But it does make me wonder if some other inflammatory response in addition the Crohn's is causing the fevers.

Yeah Randynoguts keeps getting fevers for an unknown reason. At least, the last I remember reading they were happening for no reason.

I get low grade temps - 99.5 - 101.0 Tends to hover about 100 when I'm bad. Highest temp I've had was 102.5 and that was right before I went into the hospital last year. But, I didn't go in for the fever! I went in for other symptoms that were out of control, and extreme dehydration.

My fevers it 102-102.5 EASY. Weird. Are you taking any narcotics.. Also, If you arent properly hydrated and you over exert yourself without naps or food.. I get fevers.

Thanks for your responses. My GI said the high fevers weren't typical, so I was curious what was average.

Debilitated, I'm not on narcotics. Stupid question, but does that affect fevers? I'm sure having D doesn't help with the fevers, most likely I'm dehydrated most of the time from it. How often do you get your fevers?

gosh i check my temperature 5-10 times a day. I get em at night if i am not properly hydrated. Narcotics dont "Cause" fevers but overloads the body and dehydrates it. Im also thin and flarish.

I don't get fevers when Im on prednisone, a good amount of entocort or somewhat under control.

I got near 104 with no infection. Odd right? Stay hydrated and take a few tylenol before you notice your typical fevers. It's what I do.

A few years ago, I regularly had flare ups with bad fevers, the last of them being in early 2008. Don't think the temps got far beyond 39C, but by god they were debilitating. At their worst, I'd be swaddled in several layers of jumpers and blankets, lying in front of a heater going at full blast, and still shivering uncontrollably. I couldn't sit up. However, they were never checked out by doctors - mostly my fault - so I'll never know whether they were the results of Crohn's or an infection.

In 2008, I was fever-free as far as I know, but from late 2009 onwards I've sometimes had low-grade fevers in the evenings, although nothing like the ones of the past. My Crohn's symptoms have been worse over the past two years than at any time previously, however, so go figure.

PS: Never been on narcotics.

I get fevers up to 39 deg C (102.2 F) during flare-ups. Sometimes a little higher for really bad ones, but very rarely. My temp tends to spike though - ie, goes up sharply very occasionally causing shivering followed by sweats, and then tapers off. Even without taking paracetemol.

In fact, I have quite an odd metabolism which has caused problems for doctors to diagnose flare-ups, perforations, etc. I rarely get very high temps, but even a small spike up to say 37.7 (99.9) may be an indication of an underlying problem brewing...

During flareups I get flu-like symptoms sometimes. Fever/Chills, nausea, weakness, etc.... As of late, I've been getting night-sweats as well.
