Hello all!  I am new and would like to get as much feedback as possible.  I was diagnosed with crohn's almost a year ago now (in July) and feel as though I have been nothing but a ginny pig since.  I am currently on Pred. and Imuran and have gained a TON of weight since being put on these meds.  I was 213 poonds  1 1/2 years ago at my wedding and when I went on my honeymoon this past Feb. I was 270lbs!!!!! This is insane, very difficult and I don't know what to do.  We are also looking at having children in the near future and I don't know what to do about that either.  Any suggestions!?!?!?!sad

Welcome to healingwell. I am so sorry you have been feeling bad, but there are other meds out there, unfortuntately with crohns there is usually a long time for a drug to get to a therapudic level in your body. Unfortunately there is also a very small percentage of us crohnies that gain a great deal of weight with this disease. about getting pregnant I would talk with a high risk ob, due to you having a chronic illness.
If it makes you feel better I have severe disease and I am around 300 lbs right now.

I am about 250lbs so don't feel bad. I can never seem to loose.  As far as meds go, yes there are
so many other meds out there.  I have been on pred. many times and I am to the point that I
refuse to go on it.  I just saw doc this past friday and he wanted to put me on it for a few
weeks and I said no.  lol   As far as getting pregnant goes, it isn't impossible with this disease.
My doc always has said though that as long as it is flared that pregancy wont happen.  I
got pregnant and have a wonderful 4 year old son. I was in remission when it happened.  I
also needed a little help from some meds as I have PCOS too.  But it happened.
Living with Crohn's Disease since Jan./2000
I'm a true Crohnie with IBS and Arthrities too. I have Crohn's very mild compared to a lot of Crohn's people.
Meds I have tried:  Too many to list- LOL
Meds currently on:  Tramadol for the pain
Cimzia Injections. Just started on 9/30/2009
