Does this mean I flush shooting stars down the toilet????? i hope I don't get in trouble for harming an endangered astronomical sight!

Well I will go to my astronomy hobby for the answer here: the typical meteorite hits the upper atmosphere at a velocity of from 10 to 70 km/sec, depending on angle and distance traveled. Friction slows it as it falls to earth. A "made made meteorite" flushed out of the space shuttle would be traveling at the same basic speed as the spacecraft -- about 18,000 mph to maintain earth orbit. Hence that is the slowest one of these objects would be moving. So . . . simple calculation and personal experience tells us that the expelled material from a Crohnie's butt during a flare (as we have all experienced) is traveling at a comparable speed, as we all know as well from the splashing and rebound effect. If we could just harness that force for good! And that does not even consider the relevance of wind turbine technology to generate power in light of our daily flatulence production as a population . . . it seems we have the secret for sustaining the space program and solving the energy crisis at once! Al Gore, call your office!!!

thanks for doing that for me, gail! how do you do that? it seems like somewhere back in my memory, someone said you have to put brackets around it, but that didn't work.

boy, playing the straight man sure is fun. you put a little material out there and the comedians show up. turn

mike, you gotta git another hobby, man. i forgot about sniper and matthew's ability to manufacture meteorites like roman candles... and i've demoralized habs and nanners......lilcrohnie, hang around with this crowd long, and speaking of space, you'll become warped.

yeah, that's what all the chicks in school said...they needed their space. zat what you meant, sniper?

the funny thing is last night, right about this time, there was a huge meteorite that passed over iowa and landed in wisconsin. supposedly it was seen in about 6 states. on the 10pm news, they were speculating what it could be.......

I saw the video of that meteorite. Looked to be a big one. You know they are worth more than gold so maybe you need to pick up your shovel and head to wisconsin..

why, habs, i would never do that to U&ME! smilewinkgrin ok, de-morale-ized, then.

sniper, the shovel is put away for, hopefully, about 8 months. heck, i've mowed twice already! i even hit a meteorite in the yard the other day.....maybe about 2lbs.....and gold going for about a thousand an ounce......why, i'd even ship it to you by ups for free!

nanners, you mods must have things in your controls that we don't. i don't see an earth-like thing. there's an icon over on the left that's a dead ringer for sniper, though!

Hey Sniper, what could we do with all those Kidneystones? You know the average meteor is about the size of a grain of sand. I bet my 5mm stone would make a great Fireball seen in 2-3 states! LOL

Ok MikeB ideaso why don't we get a crohnie astronaut. If his bm is an explosive splat his meteors would be movin' at just below the speed of light and it would be rainin' all over the world!smilewinkgrin

that's very kind of you, Gail. i really wasn't fishing. sniper just needs somebody to pick on, and i haven't been fulfilling that position lately. i just can't sit at the computer like i used to. there's a lot that goes into that explanation, but that's the short version. i miss you guys, too. i stop by occasionally to see what everybody's up to. sometimes, i can't help myself, if sniper starts a juicy political discussion, i have to weigh in and see if i can get his thread shut down.

matthew, i thought your forte was solid boosters.

sniper, you're your yore right rite write, I eye aye am tired tyred tarred (as you might say down there). it's past midnight.....i gotta git ta bed.
