Hi there,

I've in remission for a few years since using Remicade ...this last couple of visits I've had flare ups a week or 2 before trt due! I had a dose one week ago... last 2 weeks have been bad .... the pain was the usual ...achy labor/crampy like ... they think maybe body is making antibodies ...anyhoo turned the corner last couple of days ...thought I was back to normal ...but last night woke with really bad pains ...very sharp, not like the achy crampy ones ...I can hardly walk ...or stand upright ...but if I sit or lie ...and am Idle it's ok.  My Crohns is in the last 10 inches of my small intestine...aka terminal ileum.  Of course this always happens on a Saturday ...  when can't get hold of anyone ....should I ride it out .....any thoughts or advice???

:-) xx

If you are having bad pains that come in waves like labor, are unable to pass air thru either direction, can't have a bm, or start to have nausea and vomiting, head to the ER. You could be having a obstruction. Don't let this go on too long. Hugs!

Thank you Nanners ..... have had bm .... and don't have temp .... or nausea ....the labor pains are what I usually get ...but these are really sharp and quick and happen with any movement I make. I find it more restricting than the labor ones ...least with them I can take painkillers and still carry on. Thanks for your advice :-)

Do you have any Bentyl, Levsin type meds? These meds are antispasmotics and help ease the cramps some. If you don't have any you might want to ask your GI about them. I use Librax and it helps me alot, plus it helps with the anxiety the pains can sometimes cause too, as it has a mild calming med in it too. Hugs!

Well Nanners, landed in ER that weekend .... got CT scan ....crohns back and a wee fistula starting!!  saw GI today .... as I suspected ....after 4  blissful years ...(only a couple of wee flare ups) I've now built up an intolerence to Remicade ...start Humira on Monday ...4 injections ...can't say I'm looking forward :-( but hey ho ..... try anything!  Gonna have to look it up ....forgot which is less painful ...pen or injection ...not that I got the choice!!!!  Anyhoo .... would like to thank you for your help .... anytime I've been on here ...you are always the first to help and I appreciate it ..... I find it hard sometimes to pluck up courage to ask things :-)

Thank You x

Well sorry you ended up in the ER, but glad you went. Give the Humira a shot, many have had success with it after the Remicade no longer worked. Hope it works quickly and gets your flare under control. And its my pleasure! I am glad that I was able to help. Hugs!
