If I am not flaring I can tolerate some caffiene, but if I am flaring I have to stay far away from it. Hugs~

I'm afraid that coffee is my one quality of life item. I drink 2 cups in the morning, otherwise no one wants to be around me!! I drink the first cup as soon as I get up. After about 1/2 hour, my morning clean out happens (sorry if this is TMI!). Then I drink the 2nd cup either just before heading to work, or at work just before my break. That way I can go to the bathroom as I get to work, 15 minutes from home, or during my break. Mostly it is the first cup that has an impact, but it is not too bad.

I cannot drink coffee when I am flaring, but then I don't feel like it anyway. I went caffeine free during my 2 pregnancies and while nursing, but I don't drink, smoke or do drugs so I need one small vice. Of course there is chocolate too......

I don't think caffeine bothers me, but I don't have more than a couple cups of coffee a day. I tried giving up coffee right after my first flare for a couple weeks, but felt like a sloth...

My GI doesn't want me having caffiene, but I don't see any difference in whether or not I have it. I think the thing is not necessarily caffiene in coffee, but it has a laxative effect on a lot of people. I can't live without coffee in the morning. Like writer, you don't want to be around me in the morning until I have coffee.

If I don't over do it I can tolerate caffeine. I drink coffee for the taste though not the stimulant. It does bother a lot of us CD types
