Was at the hospital yesterday at 7AM for an ultrasound. Six months ago they had found a small cystic mass in the liver and very mininal disease in colon and ileum. The mass had not changed and they are saying it is a venous malformation that I have probably had forever.  The colon and ileum looked normal although my GI was supposed to have had the report when I went to see him yesterday at 4PM. That was the whole idea of scheduling it like that as I am 2 1/2 hours away.
My GI still wants to do a colonoscopy in 4 months which was the original plan. He said in my case since I did not have symptoms before they found the stricture which required surgery that they want to keep on top of it and if they do find any disease activity they only have a small window of opportunity to hit it with Humira or Remicade?? Hope I never have to make that choice.
Meanwhile I will enjoy my summer, riding and golfing.

Very interesting, Bammer! Prior to my 1st small bowel resection 9 months ago, they discovered I had a liver lesion (likely benign) during an ultrasound. The doc now alternates between ultrasound and MRI every 3 months to ensure there's no change. One of my MRIs called it a possible "hemangioma"---a venous malformation---which sounds like what you may have.

Wow, I didn't know they could evaluated the intestines with an ultrasound!! I wouldn't think it's very accurate, though, or why would they put us thorough that nasty colonoscopy!!

Glad things sound good for you so far! And don't worry too much about Humira----I've been on it for over 1 year, and no serious side effects.

Take care!

Blossom I haven't seen the ultrasound report but they weren't too concerned about the spot before and now more or less confirmed that it is a venous malformation and leave it at that.

When I had my first ultrasound the technician said that before Dr. Wilson moved from Toronto to Calgary they nerver checked the bowels because they didn't know what to look for. I did some research on her and she is very well respected and renowned for her work with the bowels.

I know someone who's son just had an ultrasound there as well and they found inflammation and recommended Remicade!! I told her to check out Humira.

I did think I would have a little longer before needing any more tests but am grateful for the time being.

Thanks for the reply.
