You may already know this, but it was news to me.  If you do not like the Questran levels of sucrose, there is an alternate brand that has aspartame in it.  I used to take Questran Light before they discontinued it.  I'm a fat crohnnie so I don't need more sugar.  My new doc found Prevalite for me to reduce the natural sugars.  Yea aspartame may not be great either, but it has the least side effects of my alternative options!

when i got my prescription last week, they didnt tell me questran light had been discontinued they just gave me an alternative, which is in a box and all it says for the name is colestyramine powder, sugar free (sweetened with aspartame),it says its orange flavour but i still add a little orange squash to it otherwise its disgusting!!! so i wonder how long they going to keep up with this one too! Do you know why they discontinued the questran light?

I don't know why they discontinued the Questran Light brand....it happened for me many years ago. The Prevalite is made by another company.

I mix mine in OJ as it works best in liquids. Have a good one!

I've been on it for about a year now and my last refill tastes nasty. I don't know what they changed in it but I have a hard time getting it down. I take a bottle water and add the Questran to it.
I will try different liquids to hide the nasty taste.

I always drink it with fruit juice or some sort of cordial, its horrible by itself and the bittiness of it make it worse as well. Dont try it in a thin soup like it suggets either, that is just gross!!!!

Aspertame is HORRIBLE for our bodies, seriously, we're better off with sugar. Seriously google what that stuff does to your body...Ok, that's my rant.

I have only ever used Cholystermine (4 years now). If find the regular works best as 1 packet per coffee mug of cool water. But then, I'm a chugger... I did find the aspertame one worse tasting, but more than that I found I felt like crap after a month on it.

Personally, I'd prefer if they made it without sugar, then I'd just mix it in juice and be done.

Happy that it exists though, I have short bowel syndrome and without it I would never got out of the house.

Of course, now I'm flaring so thanks to that I barely take it. Fun fun.

BE well ya'll!

I tried Questran - HATED the taste, even in apple sauce. I switched to Colestid (a pill) and haven't looked back. Give it a try. It works like a charm.
Diagnosed in April 05, resection in May 05. Have gone through 6MP, Remicade and am now on Humira and Colestid.

I am in remission!

Ooh - I didn't know they did a pill.

I have mine with unsweetened cranberry juice and it has to be cold from the fridge.

I tried the light version (the orange flavoured one) and it was awful.  I agree, I'd rather have the sugar as it's less harmful and I don't have much sugar in my diet anyway.

Until today - I didn't realise gas was a side effect! I must tell my husband turn

Just taking Questran (colestyramine) with cranberry juice daily and the occasional immodiums now (I have them in every bag).
