I thought a couple people on here were due around now. Just wanted to see how you and the babies were doing.

I've got 7 more weeks to go (okay 5-9 is term and my daughter was on the extreme long end of that). I've been counting on this guy being late too, but know that is a mistake. I really need to finish his room and unpack the boxes piled in there. Hopefully I can do that before 38 weeks.

Congrats! I just came from all day dr visits. The ultrasound showed everything normal. I am 11 weeks and due in Nov. I wish my body was a healthy as the baby looked. My joints are locking up and I have had severe D 4 out of the last 6 days.

The remidade seems to be wearing off around 5 weeks. So I suffer for about a week. I don't know what to do...change meds or stay on Remicade and hope it continues to work. (i have built up antibodies). I meet with the GI this afternoon, we'llsee. Good luck on getting the room ready!

Currently taking Remicade every 6 weeks, asacol & prenatal vitamin.
Diagnosed with Crohns in 1998. Been on and off pred, entocort, immuran, asacol. Currently on Remicade every 6 weeks along with Asacol. Began having joint pain 01/2010.

- Hang in there Almost30inMI. Maybe rounding into the second tri would help. I didn't have any issues last time and it was right around 11/12 weeks I had some this time. Glad the u/s looked good. Hope your GI has good news too.

- Thanks Gail!!

GI wants to switch to Humira. I will go ahead with Remicade on Tuesday and then start Humira sometime next month. I will cross my fingers that it helps and there are no reactions. It seems like there are many positive Remicade to Humira stories.

Yup, there are positive stories for both. Stef17's last baby was a Humira baby. Hope it gets you feeling much better.

I'm 21 weeks and we just found out we're having a girl! I got my Remicade yesterday and the nurse was super reluctant to give it to me b/c of the pregnancy (and I had a cold). I kept telling her that I've had two other infusions while pregnant and all my doctors are okay with it. I got it in the end (after two phone calls to the doctor on call!). Question for my fellow mommy's who were on remicade: did your doc. increase the dosage as your weight increased? My nurse also said something like: "well, since it's baby weight, they wouldn't increase your dose" (i had gained ten pounds since last time). At our ultrasound, they said the baby weighed 12 oz. That means the ten pounds is really all my blood, fluids, fat, etc. The nurse didn't even want to weigh me this time around! How does she know what the doctors would/wouldn't do? I was annoyed ;-).

So, I'm mildly flaring (blood and mucus in stool), but docs say as long as I can keep treading water we'll stay with it like this for a while. I'm just so thankful we've made it this far. It's so good to feel movement now, too. Keep going pregnant Crohnie's! We can do this!
Dx'ed with CD in 8/2009
currently on:
prenatal vitamin for my baby due 9/5/10!
Zoloft for my craziness
Remicade for CD (5mg/kg every 8 weeks)

Im also about 11 weeks.  Have been flaring the whole time. no bloor , just horrible urgency and diarrhea that keeps me from sleeping at night, literally have to fly to the bathroom 5 times a night....Here is the frustrating part, both my GI and OB docs do not want me taking Remicade while Im pregnant, and Im due for it next week! Since no other drugs worked besides prednisone, my GI has had me on 15 mg of pred throughout the pregnancy. But im flaring so badly, and am scared that the babys not getting any nutrients....Any insight?  Have any of you been solely on prednisone throughout the whole pregnancy and nothing else?

Angievirsep93 hopefully Inflamed or Stef17 will be along soon. Both were on Crohns meds during their pregnancies and both delivered healthy babies. Stef17 I believe had babies while on Remicade and Humira. I think she is getting ready for baby #2 or #3 can't remember which. She has alot of links she might be able to provide to give you some ammo to take back to your doctor. Good luck!

Angelvirsep13-- while I wasn't on remicade, the research is really good. It doesn't cross the placenta til much later in prgrnancy. Stef17 had two rem babies and a humira baby. Search her old posts. There have been several women on here to safely take it. Your GI sounds out of date. The consensus tends to be that the flare is more harmful than meds shown to low risk.

Hey Angie, I am currently on Remicade and will be switching to Humira next month. (12 weeks prego). My GI has no problem with either Remicade or Humira. I agree that a healthy mom = healthy baby. The baby will take what it needs first. Just take your prenatal vitamins. And see if you can get another opinion on the Remicade if it works for you. Unfortunately for me I have built up antibodies and my joints are killing me. Hopefully the Humira will work for me. Good luck.

Hey cool girl, I just delivered six weeks ago and was on Remicade. I believe they did increase my dosage as I gained weight. I don't think it increased at the normal rate but the number of viles of remicade kept growning as I grew.

Angelvirsep13 - sorry to hear that you're flaring. Were you stable before you got pregnant? In the beginning of pregnancy it's hard to tell if it's the crohn's or the pregnancy or both. With two of my pregnancies I flared until about 14-16 weeks in the pregnancy, then things quieted down a bit. I was on Remicade for the entirety of my first 2 pregnancies and on it for the first trimester of my 3rd pregnancy, then I switched to Humira. You can ABSOLUTELY take remicade during pregnancy. It is shown to cross the placenta somewhere between 30-32 weeks, so most docs suggest getting your last pregnancy infusion around then and then waiting until delivery. I wish I had a link for you. I don't. I'll do some digging to see if I can find it for you. This information was made known to me in early 2006 when I was expecting #2. Prior to that I had already had a baby and taken 10mg/kg every 5 weeks of the entire pregnancy. All of my babies have been born healthy and they are smart, healthy kids. I know your doc isn't going to just take our word for it, so I will see what I can do about finding some concrete info for you. Can you change docs if you have to?

And listen - don't worry about your baby. Baby will take EVERYTHING (s)he needs from you. So, take your vitamins and eat as best as you can, but don't freak out if you're flaring. Baby will take first and then you'll get what's left over. I'll be back soon with more info (I hope!).

******UPDATE******
I found these on the web. None of them is particularly meaty in giving specific data, but I just can't seem to find those. If you google "anti-tnf and pregnancy" you can dig around a little more and see what comes up. Your doc should know that Remicade and Humira have been classified as Pregnancy Category B drugs. Prednisone is a Category C.

Hey there!!! I'm also due in November.

CD seems to be in remission (phew), but the massive hernia rec'd from resectioning surgery may prove problematic...

Good with the bad, eh?
