Just wondering if anyone has gotten a cough and/or respiratory congestion while on Remicade?  My 9 yr old daughter has been on Remicade for 1 year.  She is doing fantastic from a GI perspective.  In January she had a cough & I took her to the pediatrician & was told she had an URI.  She was given some cough syrup & cleared up in a few days.  then a month later, she had another cough, I gave her some more of the cough syrup & it cleared up.  then on 4/18, she started w/another cough & runny nose.  It could be allergy related, since pollen counts were very high @ the time.  I gave her some more cough syrup, started clearing up, but then she developed a temp & I took her to the clinic & she was diagnosed w/strep.  Anyway, she has no other complaints & says she doesn't feel bad, just wondering if this is normal.  I asked her GI about it last month & she did not think it was related to the remicade, & though that perhaps she should see an allergist.  I just hate taking her to any more drs that she absolutely has to see.  Any thoughts/suggestions/recommendations/comments????

I have heard that this year the pollens are even worse than they have been in years.  I would go ahead and suggest taking her in to see an allergist just to get answers one way or the other.  If the allergist doesn't find allergies as a problem, then maybe then you can discuss further if the Remicade is causing these issues.  Good luck!!  JMHO

I used to get upper respiratory infections about every 2 months (sometimes more often) when on Humira and then on Cimzia.  But, since I've been on prednisone as well, I haven't had nearly as many.  I don't remember how often I got them on Remicade, but I know I did get them more often than normal.  I'm surprised the GI doesn't see the relation there, as my doctors always do.
