Hypoparathyroidism or hypophosphatemia ? My last blood work shows my vitamin D level at below 4. Result is confusion , what me confused ?? Muscle weakness, Hey I'm fine, as long as I dont have to walk or anything. Just another ray of sunshine for a crohnie, rightttttttt . So now I am on a script of Vitamin D. Funny, side effects may include ,,weakness, headache, dizziness, itching, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, SLOWED HEART RATE !!!!, difficulty breathing, muscle and bone pain. Only bright spot here is ,,,loss of appetite, yeah, thats gonna happen.. Well the jury is still out but my money is on malabsorption syndrome, but I'm not a doctor, heck, I dont even like golf. I was looking in my medicine cabinet this morning and , you know what, If we get together and combine our left over or cant take them , or bad side effect, or didn't work drugs,,, I'll bet we could put WallGreens out of business..Ohhhhhh, bad idea, we all become drug dealers then. idea
Soooooo has anyone else been oh high dose Vit. D ?

Sniper I recently added Vitamin D into my med regimen and it has really helped me alot. I was suffering alot with my Fibromyalgia pain, and within about a month of being on the Vitamin D I felt so much better, with so much less pain too. I even started my healthy husband on it, and he noticed a difference too.

They are finding even healthy people are really low on Vitamin D. We are inside working in offices more during the daylight hours, as well as using more sunscreen, so those things are blocking peoples normal absorption on natural vitamin D from the sun. Give it a shot, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Sniper are they going to give you the green see thru Vit D? 50,000 units? I have found that Vit D helps with alot of those symtoms.

Yep its the green caps, 1 per week. Took the first one this morning and I feel worse. Maybe its all in my mind but I am more tired and have a headache too. I will try them long enough to see what happens though. I could use a little feel good pill about now anyway.

Yep, my DH is taking that same does for the next 3 months then more blood work. He has hyperparathyroid -- opposite of you. The vit D doesn't seem to bother him, they are using it with this Actonel for osteopenia (sp). I never thought of the malabsorbtion for us crohnies, maybe that's why my calcium levels are down.

Um, don't try laying in the sun though. Those gators might just think your an appetizer!

Heyya Sniper, I think it might be coninkidinks.

Vite D, even in high doses, and especially when stores are low, should not really be noticed.

It will take few months for your Vite D stores to go up even at this once a week dose.

The thing is, it helps. Don't worry about the side effects it takes ALOT more than 50,000mg/week to tox you out.

Having said that, it's always good to pay attention :)

Thanks guys. headache is better today. Maybe it was just the fact that I hate to start a new med . I do find I have a little more gas than usual. I 've been blastin out the blues tunes all morning . All I can say is its safer to leave the room as soon as the music stops . Rando , I cant lie naked in the sun around here. Old gezzer like me could be mistook for an albino gator and shot . I dont want to end up as luggage .

Hey Sniper, I'm on the old green caps too, 50000 a week. Been doing it sometime, can't say I've had any changes, and I
was told I would feel so much better. I think they were confusing that with 2 weeks of Florida sunshine...

Two weeks in Florida would be great. BUTTTTTTT . Trouble may be on the way for the gulf coast in the form of OIL. Best not buy lots of sun screen for now. Them white sand beaches could look ugly in the near future. Hope for a north wind real soon or I may have a back yard that aint gonna grow grass for a long long time too...Best not light a match.

I know Sniper, but we always head inland. Those old lakes hold some big ole bass, according to my husband,
but I like to fish too. I get to have a villa with a pool!! Works out as cheap as any hotel, with the bonus of having
2 bathrooms, and no walking like a duck from a crowded pool for an urgent visit. Luxury for me!!!

I take 1000 mg's a day. I live in a climate that in the winter we only have about 6 hours of sunlight...and it's too freaking cold to go outside lol...so vitamin d is necessary but I recently heard of a study that suggested that a vitamin D definciency may be a cause of Crohns..interesting to say the least...here is a link.

Thanks Rita67. I'm giving it a try and hoping for the best. Wouldn't it be nice if the cure was as simple as a vitamin....
