Hi,
I have been on Remicade now like 8 months...but it doesn't seem to help anymore. I feel worse after i get it which is weird. I have more loose bowels and i swell up in the rectal area stomaches... I told my GI and he wants to see me right after my next infusion. ON top of that...I have started getting strange patches of rashes. Right now its under my breasts..and its very tiny red bumps...almost pink like. They itch soo bad..i am putting some fungal cream on them. I also have this strange itchy patch near my left leg exactly where my underwear rubs..against my leg. ITs right where i had a cyst removed so its like a rash over scar tissue. And now..i get joint pain like i never ever had it. My joints on both knees on the top of the left knee and the side of the right..it feels like someone has been smashing me with a hammer. Now i never had this before. It seems like it comes..and it just doesn't leave. I have an app this coming Monday or Tuesday not sure for a pap smear so i can complain to them about the rash near the vagina area...now i should call my pcp right? I just want to cry..i can totally be pro remicade when it works..but tonight i feel very negative. I don't even want to get it again. I also notice that on my right wrist where i receive the infusion..i will get a rash there that comes and goes. If anyone has any ideas for me please let me know. That whole skin fungal thing with Remicade scares me because they are always talking about on every website..could be fatal this and fatal that...oh and why does everything happen when i have no money? Sorry to complain so much..but i think my husband is tired of hearing me complain...and i don't have anyone else to talk to you except you guys..thanks for listening to me.

Hmm. Is fungal cream the way to go?

I'm thinking maybe some sort of cortisone cream, to help alleviate the reaction, if it is a reaction? Failing that, what about something soothing like aloe vera? That helped me when I had my severe Rem reaction.

Are you running a temperature?

hi ivy..how are you?
No temp at all...i tried cortisone that calms down the itching..but the bumps stay and seem to spread..aloe vera is a good idea..can a person be allergic at a later point? Its not severe..just so annoying itchy...thanks for your help

You mean can you become allergic to the Rem at a later point? Yes, absolutely. It's quite common, I believe.

In all honesty, Frog, I'd be thinking about calling a professional for advice at this point. Maybe you'd suffer less if you were given some sort of antihistamine? Some of those are quite strong, though, and only available on prescription, so you might need to ask someone qualified for help.

Failing that, what about the Rem phone line? I seem to remember that you have one of those in the US?

I'm so sorry you have the Itchy and Scratchy show happening there - I remember it well, and it is *not* fun.
