I'd say I'm pretty balanced. I could stand to eat more veggies, and am going to get a vitamix to make green smoothies. Most days I have yogurt/honey and an almond butter brownie for breakfast. For lunch, I usually have some form of fruit (ie. a banana with a little almond butter on it), some frozen yogurt, and a slice of cheese. For supper, I'll have some form of meat (or eggs) and a couple of cooked veggies. For desert, I'll have some homemade gelatin (pomegranate juice is my new favorite for that). And for a bedtime snack, I have another yogurt/honey.

Before I started SCD, I did not eat a balanced diet. I relied too heavily on sugar filled drinks like Boost and Instant Breakfast.

Really i don't think there is a special diet, just try to eat healthy ( you can eat red meat, pork, chicken, fish, etc) NO JUNK FOOD; a low residue diet is recommended when cronh's is active. Eat soft food try to avoid food that's is not fully cook, including vegetables. Fiber makes me sick, i don't know if its the same for everyone.

I think if I ate more I would probably be considered as eating a healthy diet. I don't eat much, never have been a large eater and I am in remisssion. I follow a low residue diet all the time as this diet works best for me. I too probably could eat more fruits and veggies, but with the stricturing type of Crohns I have, too much fiber is not good for me. Hugs!

I have only recently been able to eat salad again. (I had a balloon scopes done on the 12 MAR 10 and it has weirdly opened me up a bit)
But it still flies thru me like in 1-2 hours tops. But I have been juicing them for years and I find that if I add avacodo it slows the digestive process. Plus if you add flax seed oil to extend your normal dressing it helps too. But this is a very new thing for me and I have to be at home when I do this.

I'd say I eat a pretty balanced diet.  I stopped eating red meat and most white too, on occassion I'll eat some organic chicken.  I saw the movie Food Inc and I vowed never to eat cow or pig again.  I eat mostly fish and seafood.  I start every morning with a Green Monster ( www.greenmonstermovement.com ) It's basically a smoothie that has a spinach base, it's real good you can't taste the spinach AT ALL, and it's a super easy way to get in most if not all fruit/veggie servings.   For lunch I try to have 50% veggies, 30% starch and 20% fish/seafood.  Dinner is a total toss up, last night I had Shrimp with Lobster Sauce from a local chinese resturant.

This is all while I'm feeling decent or in remission (what's that? haha).  If I'm flaring I'm lucky if I can finish 2 saltines.

My diet isn't all that balanced... I'm working on it... I mean... I get in enough meat.... half the carbs I need... Maybe a fourth of the calcium I need (working on it!!)... And I used to not get in hardly any vegetables or fruits... I'm buying more canned vegetables and fruits... and also...

I'm drinking this stuff called V8 Fusion... It's really tasty... It's a juice... with no preservatives or artificial flavors or high fructose corn syrup (rare in juice).... And... It gives you 1 full serving of vegetables and 1 full serving of fruits if you drink a bottle a day...

.... I've probably mentioned this juice several times before... I'm starting to sound like an ad... //-_-\\'... //^_^\\'... It's just good juice...
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.

Not really, but it's not horrible. Usually chicken/beef/pork with potatoes or rice and a vegetable for dinner. I really should cut back on the amount of soda I drink, though.

I do miss salads but lettuce turns me into a salad shooter. I gro my own tomatos, cucumbers, beets, and such even pineapple and wild grapes but I know I eat too much starch because some times potatos are all I can stomach. I wish it was not so but thats what I deal with.

HAHAHAHAHAH smilewinkgrin
Dx'd w/ Crohn's in 1979 at age 14. Bad flare 2008 but no health insurance so I dealt with it. Colonoscopy in July 2009 caused a perforated colon, emergency bowel resection. 2 fistula's, perianal and perivaginal.
Dr. wants to try Humira...STILL waiting on that! Not sure what is taking so long...
Currently just take a probiotic, a multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, and fish oil. I also take Tramadol 50 mg and Klonopin (for anxiety) as needed.

I need more veggies in my diet, for sure.  But otherwise it's pretty balanced I would say.  I eat probably 2 pieces of fruit a day, homemade yogurt and broth, eggs, and meats.  No processed junk.
