I am not familiar with this survey. But in general the fake sugars aren't good for our CD. Back in the dim dark ages when I was pregnant (kids are 22 and 19) I was told that any of the fake sugars were absolutely a no no. Since I have never liked the taste of any of them this wasn't hard. I've always stuck with the rule that if you can't have it while you are pregnant then you shouldn't be having it at all.

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

I'm a big fan of stevia:

Note that this is NOT the same as Truvia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truvia

You can find stevia in health food stores, but it is a lot cheaper to order it in bulk on the Internet. Price goes WAY down when you buy it in bulk. However, you might want to try a small size first to make sure that you're OK with the taste before purchasing a large quantity. It doesn't taste the same as sugar. Generally, stevia is sold in 3 different forms:

1) stevia concentrate powder (80% REB-A)

2) stevia spoonable blend (concentrate mixed with inert substance to make it look more like sugar)

3) stevia liquid

I find the stevia concentrate to be the best buy.

Robert

Aspertame is poison.

I've always avoided artificial sweeteners, stivia is good stuff, but barring that, organic sugars are fine too.

I take Choysteramine for short bowel syndrome. One month they only had the aspertame kind, so I had to to use it. I had headaches, sugar lows and just felt crappy after about a week of using it. By the end of the month I was done. One week back on the sugar kind and I felt much better.

Google Aspertame effects and see what you get.

My rule is if it comes from nature, more better. The less it's processed even more better...
CD 24 years. Multiple surgeries in past 10 yrs. 4 year Illeostomy. Mesh rejection. Too close to death, twice. Large inscisional hernia. Perpetually underweight. Short bowel syndrom. Have used a variety of complementary medical therapies. Highly recommend Bowen Therapy as the best body work. Take me vites. Started Low Dose Naltrexone March 27, 2010. Got married for the only time 2008. Survive because of the love of good friends, and because I can. Happy to be alive. IBD needs more awareness and more voices willing to speak up. BE well.
