Hi Everyone,

I havent been here in a while so forgive me if this question has already been asked/answered.   I am currently on Remicade, have been for 10+years.  Recently I've been feeling like some of my joints are weak (its the only way i can explain it) and i have a few sores that havent been healing well AND i had an ear infection shortly after an infusion that went CRAZY.

My question is:  Does Humira (or Cimzia for that matter) have the same level of issues with the Lupis and immune system difficulties?   If i were to switch to one of these drugs would just the change in make up of the drug be enough for my body to stabalize these issues?   I'm not SURE that these issues are related to Remicade, but my gut (pun not intended) is telling me they are.

Thanks,
Mish

Mish, all three of these drugs have the same basic side effects, but they may not all respond the same in your body, so I wouldn't rule them out just because of that.  I even asked if there was any point in trying Humira if Cimzia didn't work well enough on the arthritis and the GI and rheumy both said that just because one doesn't work doesn't mean the other won't, even though they are so similar.  So, just because you have side effects to Remicade doesn't mean you'll have them to Cimzia or Humira, especially because the drugs are different in several ways.  It's worth trying them, in my opinion.

Thanks. . . I plan on getting pregnant this fall (2nd time) and wonder if i should ride it out until then (i'm visiting my dr for knee pain this week and dermatologist next week) since I know how this affects me. My only concern is that I dont want my symptoms to get worse and then i cant have my baby for health reasons. . . I'm 35 and need to have this kid asap (for personal reasons).
