Drink one small cup of sucrose water, wait 15 minutes & blow in the tube, then wait 15 min then blow over and over for 2 hours.  I started at a "2" and never went above it so they are saying I don't have a bacterial issue.  I have a feeling I was having a good day and there are other days when this would shoot up to the "10" that they said would happen if the growth was too high.
Waiting for the doc to call with their follow up to ask if this is something that he thinks can come and go.....I know it is, but curious what GIs thoughts are as he has been so helpful in everything else.

Bring a book if you have this test.....it was boring!

I have had two bouts with bacterial overgrowth. Luckily my GI just based his decisions on my symptoms and didn't make me go thru the tests. I know in my case at least, that I did have SIBO because the treatments worked! I did a 10 day course of Cipro, the first time and it knocked it right out of me. Second time tried Cipro but it made me sick, so he switched me to Xifaxan and that did the trick too. Good luck!

My was actually super positive, but I had to blow into this bag type thing with a tube coming up out of it.
But I am wondering if you drank a cup of coffee within 24 hours before the test or taken heartburn meds, because there were alot of food and med restrictions when I took mine and it was just because the tech accidently told me about them in complaining about another patient, that I even knew about them. Plus, it made me poop like every 10 mins within a half hour after taking that sucrose.

Navy....oh my goodness....I had to sprint to the bathroom after the sucrose too. It lasted most of the day after. i also had horrible heartburn and reflux after.

I was very good about following the directions I was given...but they only said no food 12 hours prior, only water allowed. No high fibre foods for 1 day prior. never said anything about coffee--which I did drink about 23 hours prior. I had no Maalox so that owuld not be it.

I am going to chat with doc when he follows up (or if I call him first). I will mention the after effects and see if maybe the test was flawed. Doc really thought I would go through the roof on this.
