scool I was following a link here on probiots and came across a dieticians blog that stated Florastor shouldn't be used by immune supressed patients due to a rare blood disorder that can result from it. I'd printed it out for my dr. to look at and left it in his office or I'd be more specific. FYI

Boy, I sure would like to see THAT article! Just remember, it was a dietitian's blog. Was it linked to anything scientific? If scientific studies have shown this, then Florastor would have to list it in their warnings. Perhaps they do...I've not read them.

Why would you take a pro-biotic which strengthens your immune system when you have crohns which is a result of your immune system being overactive?

I can't take the dang stuff anyway. My GI told me to start taking it after my last C-diff infection...right after she told me to stick to a lactose free diet.
Well, guess what the second ingredient is? Lactose. /face palm

So I guess it's a good thing I can't take it.

My husband takes florastor because florastor contains a yeast that is known to help fight c-difficile infections. My husband has had quite a few problems with c-diff over the past 2 years. He takes 3 250mg capsules a day. He also takes yogurt and 2 packets of VSL3.
