Has anyone tried Elemental diet to give your bowels rest and heeling time? Any idea where to find it? I was diag with US for 15 years and just in Feb was told I have a non specific Crohns in the colon and rectum. I am currently in a flare and trying to recover from bad fistula surgery and anal fissures. Had 2 Remicade infusions - so far no change. Still taking Asacol.

Here you are: click on the dietary therapies link in my signature (below). Lots of good threads in there, and I hope they can give you some of the information you're after.

ps. I'll give your thread a title so you can get more responses.

Hi
My son was on it for 7 weeks after initial diagnosis(in an effort to keep him off the steroids). In his case he was prescribed it via the hospital dietician. There are lots of makes out there, I guess some more available than others and I have noticed that a lot of them are available online(I got curious as to how much they cost when I was going to pick up 250 bottles at a time so took a look-son in education so does not have to pay)
It did calm things down for him but unfortunately still had to move on to the steroids when 'proper' food was re-introduced.
