Hopefully someone can help me out with this.

I've been flaring for 19 days. I was on 40 mg of Prednisone for the first 14, then my doctor bumped me up for 60 mg. Around day 15, I started getting this pain right in the middle of my abdomen. It comes out of nowhere, and it feels like I have a red hot iron poker being shoved into my abs. Then I can feel the muscles/intestines start to spasm, and after a few minutes of that I have a BM that feels like anything that was in my tract has now left. This will happen a few times and then the burning/stinging feeling starts to fade.

I haven't been able to pinpoint down anything specific thing that I do right before hand that would trigger it. It also happens at any point day or night. It usually leaves me feeling totally weak, sweating, and shaking.

Any suggestions as to what it could be?
Rachael - 24 years old, diagnosed with CD in Dec. of 2004.

Currently on 20 mg of Prednisone, 2.4mg Lialda, and 100mg Azathioprine. Also multi-vitamins, and Anti-D when necessary. 1/2 tablet of 5MG-325 MG pain pill when needed

I thank God every day for an amazing support network of family, my boyfriend who has been there since the beginning, and my friends who never waver.

Sounds like your getting a mild partial obstruction that clears when you have a bm. Have you had any tests lately to look for strictures? You might ask for a SBFT. Good luck!

Yes I agree I've had that too. Try a liquid diet for 3 days and see how that affects the pain.

Thanks Gail. I've never had a blockage or stricture before, so I have no idea what one feels like. It was a little better yesterday. I had it happen a few times, but it wasn't as intense nor did it last as long. I have a doctor appointment today anyway, so I'll be sure to ask him about it.
