I have not been diagnosed with Crohns Disease but I was wondering if you experiece this with CD... I stopped taking Asacol because the Dr. said that after a Colonoscopy and Upper GI and SBS that I dont have any stomach disease. So like I said, I stopped taking Asacol and I have been VERY sick. For the past couple of days the diarrhea has been non stop and has gotten to the point where right after a bathroom visit my stomach is sore and hurts inside. I feel like I cant touch it because it hurts. Now when I try to eat something like a couple mins after I swallow my food it hurts my stomach like an achy, tender feeling in my abdomen almost right after. What is this? Should I go to the hospital? Will they be able to diagnose me in there if I insist to be admitted?? I cant take much more of this. My Gastro wanted me to see a Rheumy because of muscle aches but I simply cant afford to right now. Any suggestions? What is this pain?

Can you resume the Asacol? It is a safe medicine to take and if you feel better that might be enough information to go back to your GI with a new set of data.

I threw it all out when she told me that I didnt have anything wrong with me "belly wise".. It's a very expensive med when you have no health insurance. In my case I have Medicaid Share of Cost and it wont cover any meds until I have met my share of cost... >:o/

Possible bacterial overgrowth. Are you taking any kind of probiotics? If not, you might want to look into those to even out the bacteria in your intestines. You could go to the ER, and see what happens. But don't be surprised is they just send you home. Unless they can find some reason to hospitalize you, they may just prescribe pain meds and then tell you to see your family doc. Sad, but true:( Happened to me alot and I have had confirmed Crohns for 35 years. Sorry not more help.

Sorry you threw out the meds!

I don't know how long you've been dealing with diarrhea, but the best diet to eat when you are suffering is BRAT- bread, rice, applesauce....tea? I never can remember.

Avoid milk, or take lactase enzyme with dairy products. Lots of people have temporary lactose intolerance when they're ill - and lactose can definitely cause bloating and diarrhea if you're missing lactase.
