I have been on prednisone a lot this past year and notice that I get to feeling overly warm and sweating quite a bit. I've never noticed it before but did see it listed as a side effect. Has anyone else experienced this? I hate it when I'm at work and it happens. I know it's the least of my problems, but I'm on the verge of cutting off my hair.

Personally I've sweated heavily since I first had this disease in my teens, 40 years ago. I can't remember if prednisone made it worse or more frequent. A member just recently told me her Dr. recommended the drug Buscopan to stop night sweats. Unfortunately for her it only worked one night but I tried it and it's worked for me for 2 weeks now at night except when I try to reduce the # of doses a day. Here's my dosage, 10mg bucscopan (Hyoscine ButylBromide) 3 times a day. During the day it's not as effective if I add heat to my body, ie. I have coffee or tea, eat a hot meal or have a hot shower then I still need to sit in front of fans to really cool down. Here's hoping you'll get to try it and it works for you, please let me know. Good luck. Rob

I went through the last month sweating profusely in bed. Figured it was just my crohns being "active." Never had the sweats until recently to tell you the truth and I haven't been taking any medication except the occasional pentasa or nexium.

he, cd does give alot of people the nite sweats, I know me for sure, then when I started pred this year, I had to sleep on a towel it was so bad, as the dose decreased i was sweating less, then when i got down to 10mg per day it went away, or my body got used to it. funny when I started pred, i had the exact post you started. good luck.

Prednisone can cause increased sweating. How much are you taking in a day?

I'm on 30mg now. I"m not having trouble so much at night, or at least it doesn't bother me. It's just at work that I feel embarrassed. Maybe I should take a fan to work with me. Thanks for your replies.

I am hot and I can't sleep. It's definitely prednisone but I am sure the mini flare-up isn't helping.

Oh, I hated being on predinisone!! I would wake up just soaked, and then when I would be at work, with the thermostat at 65 in dead winter, I would start pouring again!!
